What’s the Agenda of Cardano Founder’s Meeting with Argentina President Javier Milei?

As an analyst with over two decades of experience in the tech and finance industries, I find this collaboration between Charles Hoskinson and President Javier Milei intriguing. It seems that Argentina is embracing the future of blockchain technology, and Cardano is poised to play a significant role in this transformation.

In October, Charles Hoskinson, the creator of Cardano, is scheduled to meet with Argentine President Javier Milei to explore the potential of cryptocurrency economies in the future.

On October 19th, Charles Hoskinson is scheduled to participate in Tech Forum Argentina, during which he plans to engage in a discussion with the President of Argentina.

Argentina Explores Blockchain Future with Cardano’s Hoskinson

The scheduled gathering aims to explore the potential of blockchain technology to revolutionize international economic, political, and societal structures. Additionally, it intends to provide insights into Argentina’s technological requirements and cultural values, the development of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC), and potential collaborations for economic reconstruction within their nation.

According to Hoskinson:

We’ve had numerous talks with his team, and I’m likely to meet him on the 19th, but even if that doesn’t happen during that time, we’re engaging with people connected to him and various forums to explore the potential future of blockchain technology. This isn’t just about Cardano; it encompasses a broader range of related technologies.

In a recent interview, it became clear that Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, referred to Argentina’s President Javier Milei as someone with “Austrian philosophical leanings.

The comment worked to align Milei with ideals shared by the crypto community. Hoskinson noted that Milei supports eliminating government-controlled money and is an advocate for private institutions and free markets. He further exclaimed, “Milei shares a similar creed as those greats like Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard; his political philosophy consequently really tallies with the ethos of the cryptocurrency industry.

For the first time, Cardano has made a significant impact in Argentina, as Charles Hoskinson’s upcoming meeting with President Milei serves as proof. The country has been receptive to Cardano projects, establishing several partnerships aimed at fostering blockchain adoption. In June of 2024, the Cardano Foundation teamed up with Argentina to support local blockchain initiatives.

Cardano’s history with Argentina dates back to the early stages of its protocol. One of Cardano’s initial development partners, AtixLabs, hails from this country. As Hoskinson emphasized, Cardano has had a substantial footprint in Argentina for quite some time, highlighting the robust infrastructure of the network.

Apart from mentioning Argentina’s past involvement with Bitcoin, he highlighted that BitPay, a significant player in the crypto world, developed its Copay wallet in Argentina around 2012. President Milei has been vocal about his support for cryptocurrencies and has endorsed Cardano publicly. In May 2024, a Cardano-themed message from Dario Epstein was shared on Milei’s X page, and he has also forwarded at least one of Hoskinson’s tweets.

President Milei to Witness Cardano’s DeFi Governance Milestone

On September 17th, President Javier Milei made it clear that he will be participating in Tech Forum Argentina by sharing a post about it on platform X, indicating his intention to attend the forthcoming event.
The announcement is being made now as the Cardano blockchain moves ahead in its journey towards Voltaire, the final stage outlined in its roadmap that emphasizes decentralized governance. Previously, on September 1, Cardano experienced its first hard fork called Chang, which marked the beginning of community-driven governance by activating on-chain consensus.
The final version of the Cardano Constitution, due by December, will officially approve the on-chain voting abilities for ADA holders, as per Voltaire’s specifications.
Charles Hoskinson, who advocates for a deflationary monetary policy, doesn’t support the destruction of tokens under any circumstances. However, he encourages open discussions within the community. He believes that on-chain governance thrives on debate; it’s through these discussions that ideas are sharpened and systems grow by embracing diversity in all its forms.
