Konoha’s Itachi Uchiha Replacement In The Boruto Era Has Already Been Revealed

This article contains spoilers for the Boruto series.

Itachi Uchiha is one of the most famous ninja from the Naruto series. Initially presented as a powerful and mysterious villain, he quickly became a beloved character. Even with the new Boruto series underway, fans still miss Itachi, and his impact is clear – new characters are often inspired by him, and there’s still a strong desire for more stories about him.

Although Itachi Uchiha can’t return in Boruto, especially after already dying and being temporarily revived, his spirit lives on through other characters. Sarada Uchiha is a natural leader and will likely become the head of the Uchiha clan, much like Itachi, and she isn’t burdened by the negative emotions often associated with the Sharingan. Interestingly, Boruto Uzumaki, despite not being an Uchiha himself, is also carrying on Itachi’s true legacy.

Itachi Uchiha Was A Legendary Ninja In Naruto

  • The Most Prodigious Uchiha Of All
  • Wisdom of a Kage At 7
  • Considered Invincible In Combat

Itachi Uchiha was an exceptionally gifted ninja, a true prodigy. Even as a young child, at just seven years old, he was said to possess the intelligence of a leader, and his power drew the attention of Orochimaru before he reached ten. Itachi’s abilities set him far apart from his peers. Once he unlocked his Mangekyo Sharingan, he became incredibly powerful – strong enough to easily defeat even the Legendary Sannin in battle. Despite the Sannin being elite, Kage-level ninjas, Itachi could overcome them with little effort, showcasing just how formidable he was.

We’re family, bound by blood. I’ll always be a part of your life, even if that means being someone you have to fight against. Even if you end up resenting me, that’s just what older brothers do. — Itachi Uchiha to Sasuke

Honestly, what blew my mind about Itachi is that he was holding back! He still had Totsuka’s Sword and the Yata Mirror up his sleeve. A lot of Naruto fans don’t fully appreciate just how powerful he was. He wasn’t on Madara’s level, sure, but he managed to control Obito for so long, and that really shows you how incredibly strong Itachi truly was.

Fans adore Itachi because he gave up everything – his life and his entire clan – to protect his brother. While there will never be another Itachi, characters can sometimes echo his spirit, and Boruto Uzumaki is currently doing that. Although Boruto isn’t as naturally gifted or skilled as Itachi was, he shares the most crucial trait: a willingness to sacrifice himself for others.

Boruto Uzumaki Is The Next Itachi Uchiha of Konoha

  • Inspired by Itachi’s devotion to the village
  • Wants to Follow Sasuke Uchiha

Itachi’s life was defined by sacrifice. He gave up absolutely everything – his clan, his reputation, and even his own well-being – to protect his younger brother and Konoha village. While his actions, including betraying his clan who were rebelling against Konoha’s harsh leadership, weren’t morally right, they were motivated by a deep commitment to the village, which is something to acknowledge.

Boruto Uzumaki is very similar to his father in many ways. Like him, Boruto prioritizes the well-being of his loved ones and his village, even putting their needs before his own. He’s willing to make huge sacrifices to protect them, even when facing hatred, as seen with the challenges caused by Kawaki’s powers.

Boruto has developed into a truly admirable character. Despite some weaknesses in the series’ writing, he’s consistently stepped up to protect Konoha while Naruto and Sasuke were away. In many ways, he’s become the new protector of the village, filling a role similar to the legendary Itachi Uchiha, and that’s something worth recognizing.

Kishimoto Has Made An Itachi Style Main Character In The Boruto Series

Boruto’s personality likely draws inspiration from Itachi Uchiha, particularly his willingness to sacrifice for others. Itachi is a hugely popular character with fans – in a poll from two years ago, he ranked second in popularity, only behind the iconic Minato Namikaze.

We all live by what we believe to be true, and that shapes our understanding of the world. But what is truly correct or real? These ideas are often unclear and subjective, meaning our perception of reality could be an illusion. — Itachi Uchiha, Naruto

I’ve noticed how much fans love Itachi, and his strong beliefs really seemed to stick with people. I think that might have played a role in how Kishimoto and Ikemoto created Boruto. Whatever the reason, it’s working – Boruto is a really engaging character, and I have a feeling his story is going to become even more complex and interesting as the new Two Blue Vortex series goes on.

For a long time, fans wished Itachi had a bigger role in the Naruto series. It was disappointing that he didn’t get the focus he deserved and that his story ended so soon. While that can’t be changed, many fans find it comforting that Boruto, the new generation’s leader, shares so many similarities with Itachi. It’s clear that Itachi Uchiha continues to have a strong impact on the Naruto world even after his death, which is very rewarding for fans.

Itachi’s Will Lives On To This Day

Currently, in the Boruto storyline, Itachi is absent. While he tragically died branded as a villain, and many villagers likely still see him that way, the village leaders understand the sacrifices he made to protect them. Sasuke follows in his brother’s footsteps, and Naruto is also inspired by Itachi’s actions. The younger generation, like Sarada and Boruto, possess traits similar to Itachi, ensuring his legacy as a member of the Uchiha clan continues to endure.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Itachi’s continued impact on the Boruto storyline, and they hope the creators, Kishimoto and Ikemoto, find ways to keep his influence present through other characters. This is what Itachi Uchiha fans want most, and it would also add depth to the series as a whole.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is the continuation of the Boruto story, created by Mikio Ikemoto with supervision from Masashi Kishimoto. Picking up three years after the events of the Omnipotence arc, the series follows Boruto Uzumaki as he strives to protect the world and navigate his relationship with his brother, Kawaki. Chapter 30 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will be released on January 20, 2026, at 10 AM EST / 3 PM UTC. Fans can read it for free on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
