As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say, the delay of Palworld’s PS5 version in Japan has left me somewhat perplexed and a tad frustrated. Having played countless hours of this game on Steam, I can attest to its addictive gameplay and unique blend of survival-crafting and creature collection.
Yesterday, the game titled “Palworld” by Pocket Pair was released on PlayStation 5 consoles in 68 countries and territories around the globe, except for Japan.
As reported by the Japanese Pocket Pair account on X, the team behind Palworld has not set a release date for the PlayStation 5 version in Japan at this time. They’ve expressed their apologies to the Japanese community and assured them that every effort is being made to bring out the PS5 version as quickly as possible.
In accordance with the announcement made during PlayStation’s official “State of Play,” the PS5 version of “Palworld / Palworld” was released worldwide today in a total of 68 countries and regions.

Some gamers are discussing a possible delay in the release of Palworld’s PS5 version in Japan, as it may be related to Nintendo and the Pokémon Company’s lawsuit against its developers. Nintendo claims that the game violates several patent rights. However, Pocket Pair has stated they are uncertain about which patents they are accused of infringing.
In early 2024, a game known as Palworld, often referred to as “Pokémon with Guns,” was unveiled. Rapidly gaining popularity, it soon found itself occupying the second most-played position on Steam and amassing over 25 million players.
In Palworld, you explore an expansive open world alongside other players, engaging in a survival and crafting adventure. The unique aspect here is that you command creatures known as Pals, who can be deployed for tasks such as combat, farming duties, or factory work. You have the freedom to either trade these Pals or consume them as part of gameplay.
