Say Goodbye to The Best LEGO Collab Ever in 2026

It’s hard to say exactly how long I’ve loved LEGO – it feels like a childhood passion that’s stuck with me ever since. I don’t often meet people who still enjoy something from their youth as much as I do, but LEGO is one of those things for me. I believe I received my first LEGO set – a racing car, believe it or not – when I was four years old. I wasn’t even into cars, but the simple act of building with those bricks opened up a world of creativity that I never lost. And now, I’m here to share some sad news: one of the very best LEGO creations ever is being discontinued this year, and it’s going to be a really disappointing day when it’s gone.

LEGO sets are constantly being discontinued, and it’s frustrating when great sets disappear quickly. LEGO has announced a lot of exciting new sets for 2026, including collaborations with popular franchises like Pokémon, One Piece, and Fortnite. However, I was disappointed to see no Dungeons & Dragons sets announced. It’s even more surprising now that I’ve found out LEGO is discontinuing their only Dungeons & Dragons set ever made.

LEGO Peaked With Its Dungeons and Dragons Collab, And It’s Only Downhill From There

The LEGO Red Dragon’s Tale Dungeons & Dragons set is proudly displayed on my shelf, and I love looking at all the included minifigures and creatures – especially the Dwarf Cleric and the Owlbear! This set is truly fantastic. It’s incredibly well-designed, offers a lot for the price, and is a great way to get introduced to Dungeons & Dragons, complete with its own playable adventure.

I think this LEGO set is truly one of the best ever made. It’s definitely an investment, but I was lucky enough to find it for half the price of the LEGO Pokémon Kanto starter set. I actually bought it as a gift for my partner, and we had a blast building it together. It even inspired us to pick up Dungeons & Dragons again after a long break! Honestly, if someone had told me I’d enjoy Red Dragon’s Tale this much before we started building, I wouldn’t have believed them, but here we are – completely hooked.

Every LEGO D&D Red Dragon’s Tale Character, Monster, and Room

The set packs the following:

  • 6 DnD LEGO Minifigures, including four customizable heroes and two pre-prepared characters:
    • 1x Orc Rogue (masculine and feminine faces available), packing several melee weapons and a crossbow
    • 1x Dwarf Cleric (masculine and feminine faces available, with the former including a long beard), packing a hammer and a focus
    • 1x Elf Wizard (masculine and feminine faces available), packing a wand and spell book
    • 1x Gnome Warrior (masculine and feminine faces available), packing melee weapons and a shield
    • 1x Dragonborn character
    • 1x Human character
  • 10 classic Dungeons and Dragons monsters, including the titular Red Dragon:
    • Beholder
    • Black puddings
    • Cinderhowl, an adult Red Dragon
    • Displacer Beast
    • Gelatinous Cube
    • Giant spiders
    • Giant wolf spider
    • Mimics
    • Owlbear
    • Skeletons
  • Treasure and character-specific items to improve performance during the adventure, including DnD‘s Bag of Holding
  • A modular building that develops vertically and makes great use of narrow spaces, including:
    • A tavern, equipped with a counter, tables, and barrels of ale inside, and a dock for boats outside
    • Private chambers upstairs with beds, chests, and more
    • A biome made of beach and forest, including a massive tree
    • A dungeon with various items and secrets to discover
    • A bridge section with traps and access to the tower
    • A tower area made of a spiral staircase, hidden treasures, a sorcerer’s belongings, and more
  • An actual Dungeons and Dragons campaign to claim on LEGO Insiders, with details to play a full-blown adventure with the model
  • A total of 3,745 pieces

The Red Dragon’s Tale LEGO set is available on LEGO’s website for $359.99.

My main disappointment with this set is the lack of a LEGO d20 or dice for Dungeons & Dragons – it would have been a great addition! Hopefully, they’ll consider that for a future set. Still, I think this set offers fantastic play and good value, and it’s hard to beat the Red Dragon’s Tale in that regard.

July 2026 is Officially the End of an Era For LEGO and D&D

This set is a fantastic value and I highly recommend it, but unfortunately it will be discontinued on July 31, 2026 – just over two years after its release on April 1, 2024. It’s especially disappointing because the LEGO minifigures that came with it sold out quickly, and this is currently the only official LEGO product based on Dungeons & Dragons, with no new ones planned for 2026.

Don’t Expect New LEGO x Dungeons and Dragons Sets Until 2027 At TheEarliest

The LEGO and Dungeons & Dragons collaboration will end around the middle of the year, and current information suggests no new sets are planned. Unless LEGO releases more Dungeons & Dragons products in 2027, or even reprints existing sets, fans will be left with what they’ve already collected. The “Red Dragon’s Tale” set, in particular, will likely become very valuable and expensive on resale sites like eBay once it’s discontinued.

Lots of pricey LEGO sets haven’t lasted long, and it would be really disappointing if the LEGO x Dungeons & Dragons set suffered the same fate. I believe Dungeons & Dragons needs more accessible starting adventures and collaborations to attract new players, and the Red Dragon’s Tale set does that really well. It shouldn’t be discontinued, and if it is, LEGO should announce more sets to follow it up. The lack of any news is concerning.
