Dragon Ball is well-known for its characters’ incredible strength. While the early fights in tournaments were exciting, the story quickly escalated to unbelievably high power levels for Goku and his enemies. Over time, Goku became so powerful that, despite facing many defeats, he felt unstoppable. He surpassed even the Super Saiyan form, achieving levels like Super Saiyan Blue and Ultra Instinct, ultimately becoming the strongest fighter in Universe 7.
Beating a power level like Goku’s is a tall order, but several anime characters manage to do it. Whether measured against Goku himself or within the rules of their own series, some are even more powerful. These characters often hit harder than Goku, or possess unique abilities he doesn’t have, giving them an unfair advantage. Ultimately, they become nearly impossible to defeat by bending or breaking the established rules of combat.

Sung Jinwoo from Solo Leveling is the perfect example of an incredibly powerful anime hero. The entire story revolves around this idea – Jinwoo is a classic ‘power fantasy’ character, especially appealing to gamers, as he constantly grows stronger. While characters like Goku also get more powerful, Jinwoo’s progression is more structured and quantifiable. He starts as a very weak E-rank hunter and quickly climbs the ranks to become S-rank, eventually surpassing the entire ranking system according to fans.
While Jinwoo from Solo Leveling isn’t as powerful as Son Goku yet, he’s quickly becoming a comparable force in the world of anime heroes. Many viewers believe Jinwoo will eventually surpass Goku, thanks to his constantly expanding army of Shadows and his ability to defeat and then recruit powerful enemies like Igris, orcs, and even the Ant King. Unlike Goku, who simply grows stronger from battles, Jinwoo gains actual minions from his victories.
Rimuru Tempest Has an Army’s Worth of Magic Spells and Vast Political Influence
Rimuru Maxed Out the Concept of an OP Isekai Hero

Rimuru Tempest from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is definitely one of the most powerful characters in anime. He’s considered a top-tier and incredibly overpowered protagonist in the isekai genre. What makes Rimuru interesting is his goal to build a welcoming nation for monsters, and he’s surprisingly good at things like governing and diplomacy – skills that allow him to shape the world in ways other powerful characters, like Goku, can’t.
When it comes to fighting ability, Rimuru has a wider range of powers than Goku. While Goku relies on transformations like Super Saiyan and techniques like Kaio Ken, Rimuru can change into many different creatures, use a huge number of spells, and even absorb his enemies. Though some Dragon Ball characters, like Cell, can absorb others, Rimuru is even better at it. Plus, Rimuru is more durable than Goku, thanks to his quick healing and the fact that he’s a very resilient slime.
Pride is an Unbeatable Mass of Shadows
In Pride’s World, He Fears No Enemy Except Edward Elric
Image via studio Bones. Pride, a character from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, is incredibly powerful, but in a way that’s very different from someone like Goku. While Goku relies on brute strength and massive attacks, Pride is frightening because of his unique abilities. His true form is a shadowy mass that can’t be destroyed, and even his seemingly vulnerable human body, Selim Bradley, is essentially unkillable. This makes him a uniquely dangerous opponent, even to someone as strong as Goku.
Pride is incredibly resilient; unlike Goku, who has been defeated before, Pride doesn’t seem to fear any attack. He can also spread out and observe enemies easily with his numerous eyes – something Goku can’t do. While bright light or darkness can briefly repel Pride, opponents rarely exploit these weaknesses, and even when they do, it only forces him to retreat, it doesn’t actually injure him.
Haruhi Suzumiya Doesn’t Realize She Can Reshape the Universe
Her Godly Desires Are Rooted in Her Boredom
Image via Kyoto Animation. While many incredibly powerful anime characters are fighters or villains who excel in battle, there are exceptions. For every character like Goku, Satoru Gojo, or Saitama, there’s someone like Haruhi Suzumiya. The main character of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, she offers a different take on being overpowered. Unlike a warrior searching for a worthy opponent, Haruhi is a godlike being simply looking for enjoyment, and she’s willing to reshape reality itself to find it.
Haruhi possesses the incredible, unconscious ability to create and destroy entire worlds and timelines. This unawareness is central to her character and the anime’s plot, as the other members of the SOS Brigade struggle to contain and manage her immense, incomprehensible powers.
Eren Yeager Commanded a Legion of Titans
He Also Had Previous Titan Shifters to Command
Image via studio MAPPA. It’s impossible to say who would win in a fight between Eren Yeager and Goku. While Goku is incredibly powerful, Eren from Attack on Titan doesn’t just rely on his own abilities. He also commands a massive army of Colossal Titans – the very ones that formed the walls. This gives Eren control over a larger force than almost any other hero in anime and manga.
Eren is arguably more powerful than Goku because of his ability to command a massive army and destroy the world within days. Unlike Goku, who fights alone, Eren’s forces can quickly overwhelm entire countries. Furthermore, Eren possesses the combined power of all previous Titan Shifters, essentially giving him access to the full extent of the Titan abilities created by Ymir centuries ago, making him a truly unstoppable force.
Yhwach Can Use The Almighty to Jump Into Any Desired Timeline
Yhwach Used That Ability to Make a Fool of Ichibe Hyosube
Image via Pierrot. The heroes of Bleach faced a huge challenge when Sosuke Aizen, a former captain, betrayed them and merged with the Hogyoku. It took everything Ichigo Kurosaki had, along with help from Kisuke Urahara, to defeat Aizen. But just 17 months later, a new threat emerged: Yhwach, the king of the Quincy empire. Yhwach is considered the most powerful character in Bleach, and one of the strongest in all of shonen anime and manga – even compared to characters like Goku. While Goku might have more raw power in his attacks, Yhwach possesses abilities that are beyond Goku’s reach.
With his immense power, Yhwach can see and switch between different timelines during a fight, giving him complete control. This makes him virtually unbeatable in combat, as he manipulates all possible outcomes. It’s as if he’s rewriting the rules of the fight, and no one in Dragon Ball has a power that can counter it.
Jibril Ranks First Among All Flugel in Disboard’s World
Only Tet’s Game Rules Keep Jibril in Check
Image via Madhouse. The anime No Game No Life is well-known for the exciting mind games between Sora and Shiro, where they consistently outsmart their opponents. However, the show’s backstory reveals a different kind of strength existed before the current rules. While Tet’s rules in Disboard now prioritize skill and strategy, the prequel movie shows a time when the sixteen races of Disboard waged brutal wars. Among them, the Flugels were a dominant force, and Jibril, a fiercely powerful warrior, stood out as their strongest member.
Jibril’s incredible power was held in balance by Tet’s rules, which was a good thing. Without those rules, she could single-handedly destroy countries. She’s exceptionally fast, strong, and durable – abilities that rival even those of Goku. While Goku is certainly powerful, he’s still human, whereas Jibril is on a completely different level.
