Okay, so I was pretty surprised to hear that Game Freak, the team famous for Pokemon, is bringing their new action-RPG, Beast of Reincarnation, to Xbox Game Pass right away this summer! They usually stick to Nintendo, so this is a big change of pace. I wasn’t expecting to be able to play a brand new Game Freak title through Game Pass on day one, but honestly, I’m not complaining!
Launching later this year, Beast of Reincarnation is a brand new, visually impressive action-RPG that’s quite different from Pokemon. Game Freak recently shared details about the game during the Xbox Developer Direct, revealing the story of Emma, a protagonist who can control plants to fight and navigate the world, and her canine companion, Koo. Together, they’ll journey to defeat the Beast of Reincarnation and save the world from a devastating plague.
Beast of Reincarnation is Coming to Game Pass on Day 1
Recent Pokémon games like Scarlet and Violet have faced criticism for their graphics and performance, but Beast of Reincarnation proves Game Freak can create a game that looks and runs exceptionally well. If you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber and enjoyed Beast of Reincarnation, you’ll be pleased to hear it’s included with your subscription when it releases this summer. While a specific release date wasn’t announced during the Xbox Developer Direct, it will also be available on PC and PlayStation 5. Just like most new games on the service, you’ll need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription to play.

Players control Emma, who fights with a sword and plant-based powers, and can also activate special abilities from her companion, Koo. Game Freak described Koo’s combat as similar to a turn-based RPG – time slows down, and players select his actions from a menu.

However, the developers emphasize this isn’t a Soulslike. Players seeking a tough experience can choose the Hard Mode, while Normal and Story Modes will offer more accessible options. This variety in difficulty settings lets players customize their experience and play the game in a way that suits their preferences.
Beast of Reincarnation Wasn’t the Only Day One Game Pass Game at the Developer Direct
I was so excited to see Beast of Reincarnation at the Xbox Developer Direct – it’s awesome that it’s coming to Game Pass right when it launches! Out of all the games they showed, Forza Horizon 6 is the only one with a firm release date so far: May 19th. And great news for us Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members – we’ll get it then! It looks like Forza Horizon 6 is finally bringing the series to Japan, and honestly, it seems like it’s going to be just as thrilling as all the other Forza games we love.
This spring, Double Fine will release Kiln, a fun multiplayer game. And later this year, the highly anticipated reboot of Fable will finally be available. With these titles, and even more games planned, 2026 is looking like a huge year for Xbox Game Pass.
