Sturdy Chitin is a fairly common resource in Hytale used to upgrade the Armorer’s Workbench to Tier 3. It doesn’t drop from just any creature, though – you’ll only find it dropped by specific creatures located in certain areas of the game world.
Finding out where Sturdy Chitin creatures appear and how to reach them is essential for crafting the best armor in Hytale. Here’s what you need to know.
How to Get Sturdy Chitin in Hytale
Sturdy Chitin Location
You can get Sturdy Chitin by defeating creatures in the Howling Sands, a desert area in the game Hytale.
- Tortoise
- Scorpion
- Armadillo
- Scarak Defender
- Scarak Fighter
- Scarak Louse
- Scarak Seeker
- Scarak Broodmother
Tortoise Location
In Hytale, you can find tortoises along the beaches of the Howling Sands (Zone 2), where palm trees also grow. They often retract into their shells, appearing as just a green shape from a distance. Luckily, tortoises aren’t aggressive, so you can safely gather Sturdy Chitin from them.
Armadillo
You can find armadillos throughout the Howling Sands (Zone 2) in Hytale, especially in areas with red sand, on mountains, and on dunes. Their light-brown scales help them blend in with the desert landscape, making them a bit hard to see. Like tortoises, armadillos won’t attack you.
Scorpion
Scorpions live in all kinds of desert environments, from beaches and sand dunes to ancient ruins and oases. They’re easily recognized by their dark brown scales, white mask-like face, and glowing blue claws and stinger. These creatures are very aggressive and inflict poison with their attacks. Luckily, they usually prefer to be alone, so you can often defeat them with a little preparation.
Scorpions also drop Venom Sacs when killed
Scarak Enemies
You can find Scarak monsters around Scarak nests in the Howling Sands desert of Hytale. These nests are located within fossil sites – the dark red sandy areas where you’ll discover large animal bones.
Scarak nests appear as large, sturdy columns of red mud rising from the ground, but they’re much more than they seem. These nests burrow deep underground, like a network of tunnels, and are filled with various Scarak creatures, all prepared to battle.
| Enemies | Description | Screenshot |
|---|---|---|
| Scarak Seeker | The Seekers are the wasp-like creatures that circle around the nests above ground. These can only be found on the surface. In addition to swarming near the locations where the entrances to the nests are, the Seekers patrol the entire desert and can be found basically everywhere where you can find sand. | |
| Scarak Fighter | The Fighters are the second line of defense for the nest. They can be found both outside and on the inside. | |
| Scarak Louse | Each blue-colored Scarak egg houses a single Louse inside. Interacting with these eggs will free it. They appear in large quantities inside the nest. | |
| Scarak Defender | The Defenders only spawn deep underground inside the Scarak nests. | |
| Scarak Broodmother | Each Scarak nest only has one Scarak Broodmother that serves as the queen of the colony. This creature can only be found at the very heart of the nest, deep underground. |
Removing a Scarak nest takes a lot of time and effort. It’s important to be well-equipped with strong weapons, protective armor, and plenty of healing potions.
