The addition of Timon and Pumbaa to the ever-growing Dreamlight Valley community is bound to bring new adventures and friendships. And who wouldn’t want to embark on a quest with these hilarious buddies from The Lion King?
The enchanting Disney-styled virtual world, known as Disney Dreamlight Valley, has revealed its upcoming update, scheduled for release in October 2024. Named “Jungle Getaway,” this update will introduce two fresh characters from The Lion King, introduce a new Star Path brimming with rewards for players to collect, and rejoin the game’s main storyline with a new twist concerning the Night Thorns encroaching on the valley. “Jungle Getaway” marks a free update, marking the first one since the conclusion of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s paid “A Rift in Time” expansion, promising a substantial amount of additional content when it becomes available.
Welcoming Timon And Pumbaa To The Valley
Two fresh faces, Timon the meerkat and Pumbaa the warthog (close companions of Simba), are set to become residents in Dreamlight Valley as part of the Jungle Getaway update. You can invite them into your valley through the Lion King realm, which has previously been released and is accessible via the Dream Castle. Since Simba, Nala, and Scar are existing characters from the Lion King in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it’s reasonable to assume that Timon and Pumbaa’s storylines will revolve around their interactions with these three lions.
Similar to beloved characters from different realms such as Mulan, Belle, WALL-E, the Frozen crew, and now potentially Timon and Pumbaa, it seems that completing a set of Realm missions might be necessary for these characters to relocate to the Valley. Whether they’ll construct their own abode or share living space with Simba and Nala remains to be seen. Upon settling in, each character will provide a sequence of Friendship Quests, granting players an opportunity to amass themed prizes by fulfilling these quests.
Night Mites: New And Mysterious Creatures
A blog post titled “A Glimpse into the Valley” published in August 2024 hinted at the concurrence of Timon and Pumbaa’s appearance in the valley with the emergence of enigmatic creatures called Night Mites. These new beings, linked to the Forgetting predicament and the persistent Night Thorns, appear to signal a resurgence of the Forgetting storyline, which has taken a backseat since the transformation of the villainous Forgotten in a 2023 update. However, not much is known about these Night Mites at this point.
Will Skull Rock’s Mystery Finally Be Solved?
One hanging thread related to the Forgetting plotline that continues to frustrate players is the mystery of Skull Rock, a skull-shaped formation in Dreamlight Valley’s Dazzle Beach biome. The Forgotten vaguely recalls a character – theorized by fans to be Peter Pan, Captain Hook, or Jack Sparrow – trapped inside Skull Rock, and a previous Quest began but did not complete the process of unsealing them. It is unconfirmed whether the Skull Rock plot will continue in the next update.
Other Updates Coming In Jungle Getaway
Further details emerged from a video update shared on X on October 2, 2024, which also highlighted some new features coming to Dreamlight Valley:
- The “Night Show” Star Path, featuring rock-inspired clothes and musical and pyrotechnic furniture and accessories.
- New backpacks, designed in collaboration with Loungefly and based on the brand’s real-life products, will be added to the game.
- An update to Scrooge McDuck’s store, featuring new Realm-themed decorations and furniture items.
- A new locked-cursor version of Edit Mode, accessible via the Settings menu.
- The ability to pin Duties and Crafting Recipes to the on-screen Quest Tracker.
On October 9, 2024, the “Jungle Getaway” update for Disney Dreamlight Valley is set to launch. During this month, it’s expected that the game will host its annual Halloween event, where players can collect candy across the valley and transform it into pumpkins and other eerie decorations.
