Silent Hill 2 Remake: How to Solve the Clock Puzzle in Bluecreek Apartments

As a seasoned gamer who has navigated countless labyrinthine puzzles and cryptic riddles, I found this Silent Hill 2 remake clock puzzle to be quite the challenge. The journey took me through various apartments, uncovered hidden treasures, and even required a bit of mathematical prowess!

In the misty backdrop of the reimagined Silent Hill 2, you’ll encounter various brainteasers as you progress. Some are straightforward, but others require patience to fully solve due to their multi-step procedures. Occasionally, solving one puzzle unlocks a key element needed for another. Whether in the somewhat normal or sinister, corroded iteration of the town, you’ll inevitably stumble upon a riddle that serves as an obstacle on your quest for Mary.

The clock puzzle is one such example of these puzzles, and in order to solve it you will need to thoroughly explore every floor of Bluecreek Apartments. If you are struggling to find one of the clock hands or aren’t sure where to place them, here is how you can solve the clock puzzle.

This puzzle was completed on normal difficulty. Solutions will vary on easy and hard.

Where to Find the Clock

Shortly following your arrival at Bluecreek Apartments, you’ll find a substantial clock in Apartment 212. Moreover, there’s a spot where you can secure your progress in this very room, so don’t forget to utilize it before moving on. To the right of this safety area, there’s a table with a note reading:

Henry fears Scott, he’ll run from him and hide,

He’s fled to the west, to the other side.

But here comes Mildred, with unknown intent,

Scott lies face down, blind to her descent.

Currently, there’s no hour or minute hand on the clock. To completely solve the puzzle, you’ll need to locate both parts. Initially, focus on finding the hour hand since you can’t advance without it.

Where to Find the Hour Hand

As a fan, I’d guide you upstairs to the third floor, specifically to Apartment 307. Once inside, your eyes will be drawn to a radio hanging in mid-air, supported by three robust chains. At the ends of each chain, there’s some intriguing machinery operated by a rusty, red valve. For now, disregard the spot without a valve in the same room. Instead, make your way to Apartment 305 where you’ll find another valve that we’re interested in.

Return to Apartment 307 and connect the valve to the final device. After that, rotate it and then return to the radio. Interacting with the radio will give you the Hour Hand.

Where to Find the Minute Hand

Before you get the Minute Hand, you can use the Hour Hand to open another room. Make your way back down to the clock and affix the Hour Hand onto it. Turn the hand so that it points to nine o’clock. This will unlock Apartment 210. The door to this room has a big “H” engraved on it.

In Apartment 210, there are various noteworthy spots. One of them is the swing set lacking two bird-shaped pieces that can be added. Another notable feature is the damaged kitchen wall that can be destroyed with a few physical attacks. Make sure to prioritize the kitchen wall repair to access the bathroom.

Go near the bathroom, touch it to scan it. Whenever asked, press the search button repeatedly until you get the Minute Hand. After unlocking the bathroom door, step into the hallway. Grab the approaching Statue that seems deceptive, then pick up the Pigeon Sculpture from the nearby shelf.

After grabbing the Minute Hand, the entrance door to Apartment 210 will automatically lock behind you. However, you’ll be able to exit by resolving the seesaw enigma.

After that, make your way to Apartment 209 to get a Distorted Statuette Piece. Then, visit Apartment 211 to acquire a Carved Swan Neck. Both the Distorted Statuette Piece and the Carved Swan Neck can be assembled together. Return to the teeter-totter and insert both statuettes.

Afterward, you should shift the figurines around until the seesaw is exactly even. To achieve this balance, slide the swan over to the left, placing it in the second hole from the left. When you’ve done this correctly, you’ll acquire the Winged Key. This key can help you open the door that’s situated near the seesaw.

How to Get Back to the Clock

Moving forward, you’ll come across a significant gap in the floor. Jump down to access the ground level of Bluecreek Apartments. Pass through the hole in the wall to exit Apartment 110. Proceed towards Apartment 109 and step into any room therein to activate a cutscene.

Grab the knife and key sitting on the table, then move towards the far end of the hallway past apartment 111. Use the key to open the door and walk through to the other side of the hall. Take note of the door marked with an “S”. Proceed into apartment 101 and eventually you’ll find a stairwell. Climb up the stairs and you’ll be back on the second floor.

Walk into the room containing the clock, and connect the minute hand. Adjust the minute hand to point at ‘2’. This action will open Apartment 202.

Apartment 202

On the wall hangs a commemorative plaque with three deceased moths, and throughout the room are exhibits showcasing additional dead moths. A combination lock is present, containing mathematical equations to decipher its code. The key to solving this riddle lies in noticing the number of markings on each moth. Additionally, there are dead moths affixed to the wall in Apartment 201, which can be accessed by breaking through the wall adjacent to the exhibit of dead moths in Apartment 202.

Altogether, you’ll find two skull shapes, five circles, and eight crescents. To determine the numbers for your lock combination, use the given mathematical formulas.

  • Crescent – Circle: 3
  • Skull + Circle: 7
  • Circle – Skull: 3

To unlock this code, simply input it to open the door ahead. Beyond lies a compact room featuring an odd-looking hole in the wall. Whenever prompted, interact with it and explore thoroughly. On the third occasion, you’ll find yourself in possession of the Second Hand. Head back to the clock once more and affix the newly acquired Second Hand. Adjust the Second Hand to position three, and voila! You’ve solved this intricate puzzle from end to end. Your next destination is the first floor where you spotted a door bearing the “S” carving.
