TopMob recently got a sneak peek at Crop, a new game from Carbonara Games and the creators of Frostpunk and The Alters (11bit studios). The game is being called a unique blend of Stardew Valley and Twin Peaks – it’s a thrilling farming simulator where you play as an unlucky farmer who has to fix up an old farm in a very unusual town. Crop takes place in a dreamy, secluded area and focuses on restoring a run-down farm while uncovering a central mystery – you’ll be solving puzzles both above and below ground as you work the land.

While not every update is as exciting as the recent baby mob additions in Minecraft, it’s important to steadily improve the core game alongside adding new features. For years, Mojang has let dedicated players try out upcoming gameplay and content through weekly test releases. I’m conflicted about these reports. Growing up with Disney movies creates a strong sense of nostalgia for certain franchises. However, it’s also easy to get tired of Disney, especially with their constant stream of content from Marvel, Star Wars, and endless spin-offs. Whether you love or dislike Disney’s influence on pop culture, their financial success is undeniable. Their move into the increasingly popular genre of extraction shooters is unexpected, but strategically smart. It’s going to be a challenge to pull this off successfully, and it might be harder than it looks.

Sad Cat Studios’ first game, Replaced, comes from the well-respected indie publisher Thunderful. We’ve seen many promising indie developers emerge recently, like Sandfall Interactive with their game Clair Obscur. While Replaced might not be quite as polished, it establishes Sad Cat Studios as a developer to watch, offering a striking and imaginative combination of art, story, and gameplay.
