In the game ‘Silent Hill 2’, players need to navigate to the Toluca Prison armory, which is accessible later in the game. To get to the Toluca Prison, players must progress their storyline to the point where James explores the Silent Hill Historical Society building. Following this, they should follow a long staircase that leads deep into an area reminiscent of a prison.

Upon venturing into the subterranean expanse, I continue my journey until I trip over a square-opened fissure. Leaping through this chasm sends me tumbling to a deeper level of the subterranean penitentiary. As I delve further, I come across another hole concealed behind a door fortified by a gate laid horizontally. In an adjoining chamber, I uncover the Spiral-Inscribed key, which allows me to unlock this gate. Once unlocked, I leap down and find myself in the Toluca Prison.

Subsequently, venture deeper into the penal institution until you arrive at the Toluca Prison Armory, housing a map of the surroundings. It’s in this chamber that players will notice the “Hunting Rifle” confined within a gun cabinet. The primary objective is to open the gun cabinet and retrieve the rifle.

How to Unlock the Weapon Locker in Toluca Prison Armory

To unlock the weapon locker and get the Hunting Rifle, you’ll need the Armory Key. However, you’ll need to solve a few puzzles and make your way through the prison in order to obtain said key. Here are the steps you need to follow to unlock the weapon locker and get the Hunting Rifle in Silent Hill 2:

  1. Exit the Toluca Prison Armory and head into the Chapel, where players find “The Heaviest Weight” atop the Altar.
  2. Now go through Block B and into the yard. Keep moving forward until James spots a statue in the middle of the yard.
  3. Placing the weights on the statue will unlock different sections of the prison. For now, place the smallest weight on the left scale and the heaviest weight on the right scale. This will open the Serpent door that unlocks the next section of the prison.
  4. Head back to Cell Block B, take the first left, and head right through the open doorway. Players will spot the Serpent Door towards the immediate left.
  5. Now, players will need to head straight for the Guard Room. After exiting the Guardroom, cut through the locked prison cells and enter the Witness Room.

  7. Head into the Death Chamber and exit the other side, making your way to Cell E1. There’s a crack in the wall that can be opened up to access the cells on the other side.
  8. Once on the other side, go towards Cell E10 and enter through the crack in the wall into a room with the Armory Key located inside a key case on the wall. Now, all players need to do from here is enter the door towards the right of the key case and unlock the door at the end of the room. This is actually a shortcut to quickly reach back to the Armory.

Just open the weapon storage within the Armory now, and players can grab the Hunting Rifle weapon. Remember that while this gun is potent against the monsters in Silent Hill 2, its ammunition is limited. Therefore, aim carefully before firing to conserve valuable ammo.
