The highly anticipated sequel to Subnautica (following Below Zero, which began as downloadable content) was initially expected to enter early access in 2025. However, after a change in leadership and a legal dispute, its release was pushed back to 2026. Krafton, the parent company, stated the delay was due to the game needing more development time, while former studio leaders suggested it was connected to financial obligations following the company’s acquisition of Unknown Worlds. A court ruling partially resolved the dispute, reinstating the CEO of the Subnautica 2 studio. Now, the game is officially set to launch in early access on May 14, 2026.
