Former FTX Exec Ryan Salame Posts Bizarre LinkedIn Update Before Heading To Prison

As a seasoned crypto investor with over two decades of experience under my belt, I find the recent antics of Ryan Salame, the former FTX executive, nothing short of amusing and somewhat relatable. After all, we’ve all been through our fair share of ups and downs in this ever-evolving industry.

The manner in which ex-FTX executive Ryan Salame is gearing up to serve his 7.5-year prison term has caught the crypto community off guard. His recent social media activity, including a humorous LinkedIn post, has sparked an outpouring of memes and jokes from industry insiders and community members, who have expressed their reactions to his unique online update.

Former FTX Exec Goes From LinkedIn To LockedIn

Ryan Salame, who used to be the co-CEO at FTX Digital Markets, recently updated his LinkedIn profile, informing his professional network about a change in his circumstances. In an unexpected post, the ex-FTX executive expressed his contentment as he announced his new role as an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Cumberland.

Additionally, Salame made changes to his profile by listing “cleaning and wood carving” among his newly acquired skills. The unusual post, which Alex Lieberman referred to as a “banger,” immediately attracted the community’s interest, resulting in numerous humorous and clever comments being shared in response.

“Transferred from LinkedIn to Real-Life Incarceration” – This is one way of paraphrasing the original sentence, maintaining its humor and essence.

Previously employed executive at FTX found himself bemoaning the break in his Wordle sequence amidst his upcoming 7.5-year prison term, set to commence on October 11. In a surprising revelation, he admitted the impact of his post, admitting that he “discovered people still use LinkedIn” only yesterday.

US Judge Denies Request For Surrender Date Delay

Based on court records, Salame’s legal team has petitioned for a postponement of his surrender date. The filing made on Wednesday asks Judge Lewis A. Kaplan to extend the reporting date from October 11 to December 7, stating that he requires more time for ongoing medical treatment recommended by his doctor due to injuries he sustained around June 19, 2024.

In June, an attack by a dog left a mark on the former FTX executive’s face, causing him to require medical attention and surgery. This necessitated a delay in his initial court appearance, which was originally scheduled for August 29, and has now been moved forward to this coming Friday.

In a letter to the judge on Thursday, federal prosecutors criticized Salame’s appeal, stating that the last-minute plea failed to provide a convincing reason for extending the surrender deadline for a second time.

Moreover, the prosecutors highlighted that Salame’s previous request was granted before he admitted to lying under oath.Former FTX Exec Ryan Salame Posts Bizarre LinkedIn Update Before Heading To Prison

According to Bitcoinist, Judge Kaplan showed his displeasure towards the ex-FTX executive when he discovered false statements were made during the 2023 guilty plea. During the September court session, the US judge even warned that penalties could be imposed on Salame for this misconduct.

On Thursdays, the court rejected Salame’s request for a surrender date. They largely concurred with the prosecutor’s viewpoint that the proposed medical treatment, which comes after required medical treatment and surgery, appears mainly cosmetic and non-essential.

In accordance with my findings, I have determined that today, by no later than 2:00 PM, I am obligated to comply with the schedule and relinquish control, as per Judge Kaplan’s ruling in the case of Salame.
