Overwatch Reveals Patch Notes for Reign of Talon Season 1: Conquest

The first season of the new Overwatch story arc, Reign of Talon: Conquest, has launched! The update includes a huge number of changes – five new heroes, adjustments to many existing ones, story events, map improvements, and more. These changes represent one of the biggest updates in Overwatch’s nearly ten-year history, effectively a soft relaunch of the game.

Blizzard surprised Overwatch fans during the recent Spotlight event with big news: Overwatch 2 will simply be known as Overwatch starting February 10th. This update will be massive, including five new characters, a completely redesigned interface, and significant changes making it one of the biggest updates ever for the game.

A New Era of Storytelling and Gameplay in Overwatch

The first major update for Overwatch this year is now available, and it includes a large number of changes. The highlight of the “Reign of Talon” update is the Conquest event. For five weeks, players will choose to support either Overwatch or Talon, completing challenges to progress through a special Battle Pass and unlock rewards. After finishing a Battle Pass, players can continue earning rewards with their chosen faction’s Prestige Pass, or switch sides and complete the challenges for the opposing faction as a “Double Agent.”

Every week, we’ll track each team’s progress and give out rewards to the winning side. Throughout the event, you can earn amazing items like almost 100 Loot Boxes – many of which are Epic or Legendary quality – an Echo skin themed after Overwatch or Talon, and more than 40 other cosmetic items to personalize your experience.

The Lunar New Year event in Overwatch starts February 13th and lasts until March 2nd. Along with the Conquest mode, players can enjoy a special version of Roadhog’s Catch-a-mari, and collect new, themed cosmetic items.

The update also brings changes to several maps to match the new story. Watchpoint: Gibraltar has been heavily damaged by Talon, with destroyed bridges, a damaged dropship, and widespread fire and debris. Rialto and Colosseo now show support for Talon and Vendetta with new banners, turrets, and decorations. Finally, Stadium has been replaced with Serenza, a new Push map set in an Italian Talon stronghold.

In this update, the Overwatch maps Hanaoka and the Throne of Anubis are no longer part of the regular map selection. Players can still enjoy them through Custom Games.

Overwatch Heroes Balance Adjustments and More

Image via Blizzard

As usual, the latest Overwatch update, Reign of Talon Season 1, includes changes to hero balance. This time, 11 heroes have been improved, including popular characters like Roadhog, Sombra, and Baptiste, as well as the new hero Anran, who was available for a short time before the season officially launched. In addition, 18 heroes now have new abilities or perks – for example, Winston’s Electric Charge, Cassidy’s Rollin’ Round-Up, and Lifeweaver’s Sow the Seed.

This update includes some power adjustments for several heroes. Nine heroes, like D.Va, Reaper, Wuyang, and the new Talon leader Vendetta in Overwatch, had their stats, abilities, or special perks weakened. While Zarya was also nerfed, she also received improvements and changes to balance things out.

More Games

Okay, so they added Vendetta, which is cool, but Stadium also got a bunch of hero tweaks. Basically, Doomfist, Reinhardt, Genji, Reaper, Sojourn, and Lucio got stronger or their stuff is cheaper to use. Winston and Freja got hit with some nerfs, though. Sigma, Mercy, and Moira all had a mix of buffs and nerfs to their abilities in Stadium. And things got really interesting with D.Va, Orisa, and Zenyatta – they completely changed around some of their powers or items. But the biggest change? Ashe got a full rework! It’s gonna take some getting used to, but I’m excited to see how these changes shake things up.

This update includes much more than what’s been detailed so far! Players can now enjoy new voice lines for all characters, automatic warnings when enemies flank or turn invisible, a better ping system and Advanced Info Panel, and a refreshed selection of cosmetic items from previous years in Overwatch. As a result, Overwatch on Steam is seeing a huge surge in players.

General Updates: Comms/Ping Updates

We’ve added a new ‘Praise’ feature so you can quickly celebrate awesome plays – like a great shot or team kill – without having to use voice chat. Feel free to use it playfully too, even if a teammate makes a mistake! We wanted to avoid disrupting your existing Comms Wheel setup, so Praise works similarly to the Ping Wheel instead of replacing anything you’ve already customized. You can always switch the Comms Wheel back to its original function with a single setting. Beyond this, we’re constantly working on expanding the game’s story and adding more voice lines – our narrative and sound teams are dedicated to letting you express yourself through the heroes you play. We’ll keep adding more ways to communicate over time, with new lines appearing regularly.

Praise

  • “Praise” added as a new default function of the Comms Wheel.
  • Tapping the Comms Wheel button now tells your allies how awesome they are with Praise voice lines that are unique to each hero.
  • By default, the Comms button functionality now mimics the functionality of the Ping Button, meaning there is a very short delay (.18 seconds by default) between pressing the button and the wheel opening.
  • This new functionality can be disabled in the Options with the setting “Enable Quick Press Praise”. The delay can be modified with the setting “Comms Wheel Press Delay”.
  • This short delay is immediately canceled when any mouse movement or right stick movement is detected, for players that want to flick to a Comms Wheel option.
  • Praise can be assigned to the Comms Wheel in the Options, but it is not assigned to the Comms Wheel by default.

New Contextual Voice Lines and Functionality

  • Heroes now emit voice lines that suggest setup locations to their team when players use neutral pings during the Setup Phase while defending in Attack/Defend modes.
  • Heroes now have more specific internal monologue voice lines for when they request healing and no supports are available to help.
  • Heroes on defense in Escort and Hybrid are now more likely to notice when a payload is being pushed by a sneaky player and call it out with a voice line.
  • Heroes will now automatically call out to their team with a voice line when they detect an invisible hero nearby (Sombra).
  • This uses the same cooldown and tuning as when heroes detect Widowmaker aiming at them and warn their allies with “sniper” voice lines.
  • Heroes can aim at an allied Jetpack Cat and ping her to request a pick up at their location with a voice line.
  • The “On My Way” Comms now prints an ETA in seconds in text chat when aiming at an allied hero based on the speaker’s speed.

Bug Fixes

  • The Ping System’s spam protection now works in the Waiting For Players phase of a match.
  • Supports no longer hear the healing ping sound effect when another support on their team pings an injured ally.
  • Thanking a support for the “Not So Thankless” challenge should now more reliably count for challenge completion.

General Updates: Advanced Info Panel

  • Added all 5 new heroes.
  • All Cleanses in the Advanced Info Panel have been separated between Lesser Cleanses which are much more common and Greater Cleanses which are more rare and can cleanse Stuns. The definitions of these keywords have been updated.
  • Added the following new Keywords to abilities where relevant:
    • Aura – An Energy ability that gains resource whenever dealing damage or healing.
      • Example: Mizuki’s Remedy Aura
    • Break – Removes Tether effects.
      • Examples: Jetpack Cat’s Catnapper, Lifeweaver’s Life Grip, Reinhardt’s Charge, Roadhog’s Chain Hook
    • Displace – Prevents a hero from taking actions while moving them, interrupts Channeled abilities, and is not Cleansable.
      • Examples: Doomfist’s Rocket Punch, Reinhardt’s Charge, Roadhog’s Chain Hook
    • Heat – Ceases to function when the Heat gauge is full and cools off automatically when not firing.
      • Examples: Emre’s Siphon Blaster, Orisa’s Augmented Fusion Driver
    • Immobilize – Removes control of hero movement.
      • Examples: Hazard’s Downpour, Lucio’s Soundwave, Wrecking Ball’s Piledriver, Zarya’s Graviton Surge
    • Tether – Attaches a hero to a location or hero within a radius until the tether ends.
      • Examples: Jetpack Cat’s Lifeline, Jetpack Cat’s Catnapper, Mauga’s Cage Fight, Mizuki’s Binding Chain

We’ve recently been focused on making sure the information about our new heroes is correct. However, we’ve also continued to improve explanations of the game’s more complex rules by adding new Keywords. If you’re not familiar with this system, remember you can always see what a Keyword means by hovering over an ability in a match or while practicing!

    • Aim Assist

Core Game Updates

Core Game Modes

Clash Removed

  • Clash has been removed from QP

Okay, so as a huge Overwatch fan, I’ve been reading up on what the team’s planning for 2026 and beyond. Basically, they’re really focused on making sure we have the best possible long-term experience in the game. They want to focus on the maps and modes we love playing the most, but also keep things fresh and varied – that’s always been a big part of how they design the game. They’ve been taking a close look at Clash, and unfortunately, it just hasn’t quite clicked with players, even after some tweaks. The good news is they really like the maps they created for it, so they’re keeping them in the rotation for Stadium and might bring them back someday! They’ve got some awesome new maps planned for next year, and they’re promising even bigger reworks of existing ones – things that will really change how certain areas play. They’re committed to keeping the map selection strong and providing a great experience, and they’re excited to share more news about all the upcoming content soon. I’m definitely hyped to see what they come up with!

Map Updates

Gibraltar Narrative Updates

Vendetta has taken over Talon and immediately launched a fierce attack on Watchpoint: Gibraltar. She’s determined to build a new empire and won’t let anyone stop her. The attack has significantly damaged Watchpoint, and some areas of the map, particularly Area 1, have been adjusted as a result.

  • A new entrance to the left side (from Attackers POV) building has been added
  • The bridge is destroyed
  • The large health pack position in the lower choke area has been adjusted
  • Server room opening has been widened
  • Some cover adjustments have been made to the high ground surrounding first point

Area 2:

  • New ramps have been added to allow easier access to the high ground
  • The dropship has been angled and the health pack inside of it has been moved to the ground level to stop defenders from health pack camping

Area 3:

  • A new ramp has been added to allow easy access to the high ground on the far right side (from Attackers POV)
  • The bridge has been destroyed
  • Small rubble piles have been added to a few areas to smooth out movement in this area

Rialto and Colosseo

Since Vendetta took control of Talon, things have changed in Italy. New banners representing La Lupa’s growing power are now displayed throughout the cities, and a majestic throne has been erected in Rialto to reflect her dominance.

Competitive Play Updates

Rank Reset

  • With 5 new heroes joining the fray, alongside several new perks and balance changes for existing heroes, this soft reset is designed to put players on an even playing field and give them a chance to climb in a chaotic new environment where everyone is learning together!
  • All ranks in Role Queue and Open Queue in Competitive Play have been reset to Unranked, and all players will need to complete their respective 10 placement matches for each role.
  • Hero Skill Ratings have also been soft reset.
  • This Rank Reset did not change the Rank Distribution, so players can expect to see a similar number of players in each Rank once everyone is calibrated again.
  • Rewards:
  • Crimson Wolf replaces Galactic as this year’s Competitive Weapon Variant and will be available to be unlocked with Competitive Points after the first two weeks of the season!
  • Galactic Weapon Variants join the Gold and Jade Weapon Variants as Legacy Rewards.
  • Achieving Diamond or above in Role Queue or Open Queue will now unlock Doomfist’s Crimson Wolf skin.
  • All Competitive Points earned in the 2025 Competitive Year have been converted into Legacy Competitive Points.

Top 500 Challenger Updates

  • We heard your feedback about the name change, and we agree “Top 500” was too iconic to abandon, so we’ve combined the old and new names.
  • Sort By Rank:
    • The Top 500 Challenger leaderboard can now be sorted by Rank.
      • Rewards are awarded based on Challenger Score.
      • Only players with enough Challenger Score to be on the leaderboard are sorted by Rank.

Rule Changes

  • Challenger Score is no longer awarded based on the highest ranked player in the match.
    • Challenger Score is now always awarded based on your own rank.
  • Diamond removed from Top 500 Challenger eligibility
  • The challenge required for Top 500 Challenger eligibility has been swapped from Seasoned Competitor to Adept Competitor.
  • Challenger Score deduction on loss increased from 33% to 40%

We quickly discovered our initial design wasn’t working as intended. Players told us the leaderboard should focus more on ranking, and the old system allowed top players to lose a significant amount of their score by playing with lower-ranked players. This update adjusts the system so the highest-ranked players earn considerably more score. This change reflects both the challenge of reaching and staying at the top, and the longer wait times often experienced by those players. It ensures rewards primarily benefit those who have earned the highest ranks.

After expanding the highest ranks—Master, Grandmaster, and Champion—in Season 18, we’ve heard your feedback that Diamond rank doesn’t feel special enough for leaderboard players, and we agree.

We’ve lowered the win requirement for reaching Top 500 Challenger in Competitive Play from 750 to 250 wins. Because Challenger Score is now also needed, the previous 750 win threshold was too difficult to achieve.

Rewards

  • Player Icons return as a reward for Top 500 Challenger.
    • New icons will be available at each Rank Reset, meaning that a new icon becomes available to earn every 3 seasons.
    • Placing in Top 500 Challenger during the Rise of Talon Season 1, 2, or 3 will grant the Conquest Top 500 Challenger player icon.

Social Links Update

  • We’ve been working to expand the tech that allows our Community Team to add social links of prominent players to the leaderboard.
    • Updates in Season 21 should allow for considerably more players to have their social links added to this feature.
  • We’ve discovered that some older Battlenet accounts without a birthdate set are not able to view social links.
    • This feature is designed to be for players that are 18+, but the lack of a birthdate is currently preventing these older accounts from viewing the social links.
    • We’re continuing to investigate solutions to this problem and we apologize to those players that are unable to use this feature at this time.

Tuning Changes

  • Challenger Score payout for each Rank and Division has been tuned to further favor the highest ranks:
    • Master 5 – 20
    • Master 4 – 30
    • Master 3 – 40
    • Master 2 – 50
    • Master 1 – 60
    • Grandmaster 5 – 100
    • Grandmaster 4 – 125
    • Grandmaster 3 – 150
    • Grandmaster 2 – 175
    • Grandmaster 1 – 200
    • Champion 5 – 250
    • Champion 4 – 300
    • Champion 3 – 400
    • Champion 2 – 550
    • Champion 1 – 700
  • The Challenger Score requirement to appear on the Top 500 Challenger Leaderboard has been reduced:
    • Combined Role and Open Queue: Reduced from 5000 to 2000.
    • Each Individual Role: Reduced from 4000 to 1500
  • Increased Maximum Heat Bonus from 40% to 100%

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the Friends Leaderboard being organized randomly.

We’re committed to improving this system based on what you tell us. We also want to explain why some suggestions aren’t feasible right now. Some top players have asked us to bring back the rank decay system from before Overwatch 2 launched. Previously, your visible rank and your actual skill rating (MMR) weren’t directly connected, and could be quite different. Starting with Season 9, we changed things so that your rank accurately reflects your MMR, because we believe it’s important for fair competition. We’re sticking with that approach. Reintroducing the old decay system would mean artificially lowering the MMR of our best players each season. This would create issues similar to our current seasonal rank resets, but only for high-MMR players. We don’t want to do this because it would negatively impact the quality of matches for our most skilled players. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to listen to your ideas for improvement.

      • Reduced effectiveness against Tanks: -15%
  • Support Role Passive
    • Removed
    • Global regeneration after 6 seconds remains unchanged.

Passive abilities have been reworked to be more specific to each hero and their playstyle. Instead of one passive per role, heroes now fall into subcategories within their role, and each subcategory has a unique passive ability. This change is designed to make gameplay more interesting and give each hero a clearer identity.

We’ll be carefully watching how well this new system works. We plan to regularly assess its effects and make changes as necessary. This might include fine-tuning specific roles within the system, moving heroes to different roles, or even creating completely new roles to keep up with what the game needs.

Hero Balance Changes

As a player, I’ve noticed some of the perks felt a little redundant after they added the Sub Role Passives. The developers have been awesome about fixing this – they’ve swapped out some overlapping perks and are still tweaking others to make sure everything feels useful and well-balanced. It’s great to see them really focusing on making perk choices meaningful!

Tank

D.Va

Okay, so as a D.Va player, I gotta say, sometimes it feels like I can take a lot of punishment. It makes it tough for the enemy team to really make me pay for pushing forward. The developers are thinking about lowering my base health, and honestly, that makes sense. It’ll give the other team more chances to force me to retreat and re-mech, which would make things a bit fairer.

  • Base Health reduced from 375 to 325. (5v5)
    • Total reduced from 700 to 650
  • Base Health reduced from 300 to 250. (6v6)
    • Total reduced from 600 to 550

Mauga

  • Kinetic Bandolier – Minor Perk
    • Ammo generation now grants 150 ammo instantly instead of over time.

Orisa

  • Protective Barrier – Major Perk (6v6)
    • Cooldown increased from 8 to 10 seconds.
  • Charged Javelin – Major Perk
    • Fixed animation issues when charging Javelin.

Reinhardt

  • Barrier Re-Charge – Minor Perk
    • Removed.
  • Crusader’s Resolve – Minor Perk
    • While using Barrier Field, passive health regeneration triggers 75% sooner.

Roadhog

Roadhog’s ability to quickly eliminate opponents with his Chain Hook has become less reliable, making him weaker than other tanks. To address this, we’re increasing how long his Take a Breather ability lasts and how much extra health Pulled Pork provides, which will help him survive longer and play more aggressively.

  • Take a Breather (5v5)
    • Resource maximum duration increased from 2.5 to 3 seconds.
  • Pulled Pork – Major Perk
    • Overhealth maximum increased from 250 to 300.

Sigma

Sigma can be hard to defeat due to his constantly recharging abilities. Lowering his shield health and the strength of his self-healing makes it easier to attack and overwhelm him.

  • Experimental Barrier
    • Barrier health reduced from 700 to 650.
  • Hyper Regeneration – Minor Perk
    • Barrier health conversion rate reduced from 50% to 40%.

Winston

  • Barrier Toss – Minor Perk
    • Removed.
  • Electric Charge – Minor Perk
    • Winston gains 10% movement speed for each enemy damaged by his primary fire, up to 30%.

Wrecking Ball

  • Pack Rat – Minor Perk
    • Removed.
  • Multi-Ball – Minor Perk
    • Press Ultimate within 5 seconds after using Minefield to deploy 7 additional mines.

Zarya

Zarya can deal a lot of damage when she has a lot of energy. Lowering how much damage her main weapon does makes her less powerful in those moments, but changing her special abilities helps keep her overall strength balanced.

Particle Cannon

  • Primary fire maximum damage per second reduced from 190 to 175.
  • Energy Converter – Minor Perk
    • Removed.
  • Spotter – Minor Perk
    • Moved from Major to Minor.
    • Movement speed bonus reduced from 25% to 20%.
  • Energy Lance – Major Perk
    • No longer requires being above 50 energy.
  • Extra Oomph – Major Perk
    • While a Barrier is active, dealing damage with Particle Cannon’s beam generates energy.

Damage

Anran

  • Fan the Flames
    • Impact damage increased from 4 to 5
    • Maximum ammo increased from 8 to 10
  • Inferno Rush
    • Maximum vertical height reduced by 20%
    • Added “Hold to use Inferno Rush” hero option
  • Dancing Blaze
    • Cooldown decreased from 10 to 8 seconds
    • Cleansing effect removed

Ashe

  • Sidewinder – Minor Perk
    • Removed.
  • Double-Barreled – Minor Perk
    • Knocking an enemy back with Coach Gun briefly allows it to be used again with 25% reduced knockback.

Cassidy

Lowering the cooldown on Cassidy’s Combat Roll makes him more mobile and harder to hit, letting him perform better in close-quarters fights and deal a little more damage.

  • Combat Roll
    • Cooldown reduced from 6 to 5 seconds.
  • Gun Slingin’ – Major Perk
    • Removed.
  • Rollin’ Round-Up – Major Perk
    • Combat Roll heals 15 health for each bullet reloaded.

    • Moved from Major to Minor.
  • Rising Winds – Major Perk
    • Updraft gains an additional charge but has 20% reduced height.

Hanzo

  • Swift Lunge – Minor Perk
    • Removed
  • Dragon Fury – Minor Perk
    • Moved from Major to Minor.
    • Attack speed reduced from 25% to 20%.
    • Duration reduced from 2 to 1.5 seconds.
  • Frost Arrow – Major Perk
    • Press Reload to ready an explosive frost arrow that slows enemies by 35% for 3 seconds.

Pharah

  • Sky Spy – Major Perk
    • Removed.
  • Rocket Salvo – Major Perk
    • After using a movement ability, the next primary fire shoots two spiraling mini-rockets, each dealing 40 damage.

Reaper

  • Shadow Step
    • No longer cleanses on use.

Soldier: 76

  • Tactical Salvo – Minor Perk
    • Added: Using Helix Rockets no longer interrupts primary fire during Tactical Visor.
  • Recycled Pulse Munitions – Minor Perk
    • Removed.
  • Helix Propulsion – Minor Perk
    • Helix Rocket projectile speed increased by 50%.

Sombra

To make things clearer, Sombra’s Opportunist passive has been adjusted now that the Recon Sub Role Passive is available. Showing enemy ultimate abilities on the screen gives Sombra a special advantage that fits her playstyle.

  • Opportunist
    • No longer detects enemies below half health.
    • Now reveals enemy ultimate abilities on nameplates.
  • Healthy Hacker – Major Perk
    • Removed.
  • High-Speed Bandwidth – Major Perk
    • Hacked health packs grant allies 25% movement speed and 50 overhealth for 4 seconds.

Torbjörn

  • Fully Loaded – Minor Perk
    • Removed.
  • Pre-Heated – Minor Perk
    • Molten Core activates Overload.

Tracer

Tracer’s smaller bullets have made it harder to hit fast-moving enemies. Increasing the bullet size back to normal and reducing her damage a little will make her more reliable without significantly changing how much damage she can deal.

  • Pulse Pistols
    • Damage reduced from 6 to 5.75.
    • Gains the increased global projectile size (0.04 meters).
  • Chronal Dash – Minor Perk

  • Solar Rifle – Secondary Fire
    • Resource regeneration reduced from 43 to 35.
  • Outburst
    • Cooldown increased from 7 to 8 seconds.
  • Solar Flare – Major Perk
    • No longer costs resource.
    • Now has a 10-second cooldown.

Kiriko

Kiriko’s healing can sometimes be unreliable when targeting allies who are far away or moving fast. Making her Healing Ofuda travel faster will make the healing more consistent without changing how it works.

Kiriko used to have several ways to remove negative effects with her Swift Step ability, which made her hard to defeat. We’ve removed one of those cleansing effects to keep the ability’s fast movement useful, but also make it easier for opponents to react and counter her.

  • Healing Ofuda
    • Projectile speed increased from 18 to 24.
  • Swift Step
    • No longer cleanses on use.
  • Foxtrot – Major Perk
    • Removed increased cooldown recovery buff

  • Sympathetic Recovery – Passive
    • Removed.
  • Swift Recovery – Passive
    • Health regeneration begins sooner.

Moira

  • Destruction’s Divide – Minor Perk
    • Focused healing/damage bonus increased from 25% to 30%

Wuyang

Okay, so Wuyang’s still pretty strong – he heals a lot, can take a beating, and deals good damage. They’re toning down how much he heals just by being there, which means he won’t recover health as easily when just standing around. But, his healing from his main ability, Beam, will stay the same. Basically, they’re making him rely more on skill and less on just passively staying alive.

  • Restorative Stream
    • Passive healing reduced from 25 to 20.
    • Beam healing increased from 50 to 55.

Zenyatta

  • Transcendent Condemnation – Minor Perk
    • Removed.

Stadium Competitive Update

  • Powers are now granted in rounds 1, 2, 4, and 6

Stadium Hero Updates

Tank

D.Va

We’re making this change to simplify how Lava works during gameplay. By switching D.Va’s Ignition Burst to a burn effect on Boosters, she can still effectively damage enemies and control the battlefield with her movement. This also allows Lava to be used in a more distinct way, separate from other heroes. This ensures that builds focused on Boosters remain strong without being too similar to the abilities of other characters.

  • Ignition Burst – Power
    • Redesigned: [Boosters] knockback applies burn that deals 60 damage over 3s.

Doomfist

Doomfist isn’t performing well in the Stadium game mode, currently having the lowest win rate of all tanks. To address this, we’re making improvements to his ability to stay alive and move around, helping him become more durable as matches go on. These changes won’t make his initial attacks any stronger, though.

  • Seismic Rally – Power
    • Max Life Overhealth gained per second increased from 3% to 5%.
  • Block Party – Power
    • Self Heal increased from 5% to 8% of Max Life per second.
  • Rising Uppercut – Power
    • Cooldown reduced from 12s to 10s.
  • Asteroid Smash – Power
    • Cooldown reduced from 12s to 10s.
    • Maximum impact damage increased from 150 to 200.
    • Now triggers Overhealth from The Best Defense
  • Quickcharger – Epic Ability Hero Item
    • Cost reduced to 10000 (Down from 12000).

Orisa

We’ve updated Orisa to make playing her feel more seamless and satisfying, particularly during fast-paced battles. Her Hot Rotate-O ability now works better with Overheat, allowing her to quickly follow up with Javelin Spin instead of being slowed down. Shield Divergence is now quicker and more dependable when used on the front lines, making it easier to react to threats. We also changed 3D-Printed Lance to work better with Energy Javelin’s cooldown, encouraging players to use her abilities more actively and aggressively rather than saving them. The overall aim is to make Orisa feel more responsive, agile, and impactful when using her abilities.

  • Hot Rotate-O – Power
    • Redesigned: When you Overheat, [Javelin Spin] cooldown is reduced by 100%.
  • Shield Divergence – Power
    • Barrier is now quickly thrown in front of Orisa instead of being thrown towards where Orisa is aiming.
  • 3D-Printed Lance – Epic Ability Hero Item
    • Added: [Energy Javelin] hit also reduces cooldown by 15%.

Reinhardt

Reinhardt players who focus on his Fire Strike ability haven’t been having much success lately. We’re increasing its power and making it more effective in specific situations, so players will have a clearer idea of when to choose this playstyle.

  • Magma Strike – Power
    • Lava duration increased from 1s to 2s.
  • Blazing Blitz – Power
    • Added 25% Starting Ultimate Charge.
  • Chimera Maw – Epic Ability Hero Item
    • Removed “For each additional enemy [Fire Strike] damages beyond the initial target, reduce [Fire Strike] cooldown by 5%.”
    • Added “Hitting an Airborne target above 3m burns them for 20% of Fire Strike damage over 3s.”

Sigma

We’re updating Sigma to be a tank who controls the pace of fights through skillful ability use, rather than just dealing a lot of damage. We’re making his Accretion ability more rewarding for accurate players, giving him healing and cooldown benefits when he lands it, and increasing how much he helps his team. His Event Horizon ability will now better help him protect his frontline and share his toughness with allies. We’ve also reduced the damage of his Apogee Alignment (his ultimate) so it doesn’t outshine his other abilities. These changes aim to make Sigma’s strength come from thoughtful play and teamwork, solidifying his role in the game.

  • Mass Driver – Power
    • Added: [Experimental Barrier] heals 100 (AP) health when [Accretion] projectile passes through.
  • Event Horizon – Power
    • Added: [Kinetic Grasp] also gives overhealth to allies in line of sight.
  • Singularity – Power
    • Added: [Accretion]’s cooldown is reduced by 25% on direct hit.
  • Apogee Alignment – Power
    • Hypersphere damage decreased from 100% to 50%.

Winston

We’ve adjusted Winston’s abilities to balance his aggressive playstyle. He was able to chain jumps and slams together too easily without much risk, so using his Primal Slam will now fully reset his Jump Pack’s cooldown. This means players will have to commit to the slam instead of just using it as a quick follow-up move. Regarding items, Premium Peanut Butter was too powerful for its rarity, so we’ve upgraded it to an Epic item with adjusted stats and cost. Conversely, S. PaceArmor is reverting to Rare to provide early survivability without making Winston overly difficult to defeat. These changes aim to keep Winston a strong hero, but encourage players to be more strategic with his movement.

  • Primal Slam – Power
    • Jump Pack cooldown is triggered again with max cooldown when using Primal Slam
  • Premium Peanut Butter – Rare Survival Item
    • Rarity changed to Epic (Previously Rare)
    • Cost increased to 10000 (Up from 6000)
    • Health increased to 50 (Up from 25)
  • S. PaceArmor – Epic Survival Item
    • Rarity changed to Rare (Previously Epic)
    • Cost decreased to 4000 (Down from 9000)
    • Armor decreased to 25 (Down from 50)

Damage

Freja

We made Freja too strong with recent updates. She can be really difficult to play against, especially in Stadium, because she deals a lot of damage quickly and moves around easily. We’re reducing the damage in her two most common builds to give players a better chance to respond to her attacks.

  • Lille Fælde – Power
    • Mini Bola damage decreased to 40% reduced (Down from 30% reduced)
  • So Cooked – Power
    • Bola damaging zone bonus damage decreased to 20% (Down from 30%)
  • Volley à Deux – Power
    • Bonus Shot damage decreased to 50% reduced (Down from 33% reduced)

Genji

Genji wasn’t quite living up to the idea of a hero who could effectively turn his opponents’ attacks against them. These changes aim to fix that by making his Deflect ability faster and giving him more time to react while using it – especially against heroes like Pharah. His primary fire, Sacred Shuriken, has also been sped up, making Genji feel more agile and dangerous as he switches between attacking and defending. The updates are designed to reward skillful timing and positioning, making successful Deflects impactful without making Genji overly powerful in short bursts.

  • Deflect-o-bot – Power
    • Deflected projectile speed bonus increased from +50% to +200%
    • Auto-targeting duration increased from 1.5s to 2s
  • Sacred Shuriken – Power
    • Added: +50% Primary fire projectile speed

Reaper

The recent changes to Death Step and Death Blossom are designed to give Reaper players more flexibility and control. Previously, once Reaper used Shadow Step into Death Blossom, he was committed to the full duration. Now, players can cancel Death Blossom, providing a way to escape unfavorable situations. This update rewards skillful timing and decision-making, allowing players to disengage when necessary instead of being forced to commit to the full attack.

  • Death Step – Power
    • [Death Blossom] can now be canceled while being casted after using [Shadow Step].

Sojourn

We’ve found that Sojourn’s item costs have been a bit high for the fast-paced nature of Stadium matches, making it hard to build up her strength early and mid-game. We’re reducing the cost of her weapons, abilities, and survival items to make her build process smoother and give players more freedom to try different playstyles. Ultimately, we want Sojourn to get into the action quicker, experiment with different item combinations, and spend more time using her abilities – sliding, shooting, and railgunning – instead of worrying about money.

  • Espresso Shots – Rare Weapon Item
    • Cost decreased to 4000 (Down from 4500)
  • Murphy’s Motor Module – Epic Weapon Item
    • Cost decreased to 10000 (Down from 12000)
  • Shah-Mat Strategem – Epic Weapon Item
    • Cost decreased to 10000 (Down from 11000)
  • CAF Calibrator – Rare Ability Item

    • Cost decreased to 4000 (Down from 4500)
  • Rocket-Powered Javelin – Rare Weapon Item
    • Cost decreased to 4050 (Down from 5000)

Support

Lúcio

We’re making some of Lucio’s less popular abilities stronger and also fixing an issue where his Soundwave ability was weakened in a previous update.

  • Reverb – Power
    • Free cast window increased from 2s to 3s
    • Free cast effectiveness increased to 70% reduced (Up from 75% reduced).

    • Triggered Sound Barrier Overhealth increased to 80% reduced (Up from 85% reduced)
  • Hip Hop – Epic Survival Hero Item
    • Cost reduced to 9000 (Down from 9500)

Mercy

Mercy’s damage boost is particularly strong in the Stadium game mode because it combines with other stats to create a significant effect, and also boosts how much currency players earn. To address this, we’re slightly reducing how powerful her damage boost is overall, which will make it harder for her to heavily focus on supporting a single teammate. We’re also making improvements to encourage a playstyle where she uses her pistol more often, as it’s currently not very popular. This includes making the pistol buffs easier to use and refining her ‘Equivalent Exchange’ ability to give it a more specific purpose. We plan to continue exploring ways to make other, less-used aspects of Mercy’s kit more appealing.

  • General
    • Baseline Damage Boost reduced from 30% to 20%
  • Threads of Fate – Power
    • Additional Chain effectiveness reduced from 35% to 30%

    • No longer resets Buff duration when reloading or when switching between Pistol and Staff
  • Celestial Clip – Epic Weapon Hero Item
    • Cost reduced to 9000 (Down from 10000)

Moira

As a Moira main, I’ve noticed she’s been pretty consistently… okay. Not amazing, not terrible, just middle-of-the-road in terms of winning. But everyone loves picking her! The developers are making some changes – they’re toning down the stuff most of us are already using to keep her from being too reliable, and they’re trying to make some of her other abilities more viable. Basically, they want to shake things up and give us more options with her!

  • General
    • Now earns 8.3% less currency from Damage and Healing
  • Cross Orbal – Power
    • Reduced capacity of bonus orb to 60% reduced (Down from 50% reduced)
  • Chain Grasp – Power
    • Multi-targeting duration increased from 3s to 4s
  • Scientific Deathod – Power
    • Ultimate Charge per target passed through increased from 5% to 8%

Zenyatta

This update aims to make Zenyatta’s gameplay more exciting, particularly for players who focus on using his Discord orb. We want to create better opportunities for impactful plays, especially when he uses his ultimate. By making his strongest moments happen when Discord is actively hitting enemies, skillful orb placement will have a bigger effect during important fights. This will make using Transcendence feel more proactive and satisfying, rather than just being a response to damage.
