In the sequel “Hades 2“, Melinoe will journey into the Underworld where she encounters various animal allies who aid her in overthrowing the Titan of Time and rescuing her kin. These creatures join forces with Melinoe during combat, assist in farming for superior resources, and offer ongoing advantages to Melinoe herself.
Melinoe allows for the association of just one companion while she traverses either the surface or the underworld. Choosing the right companion becomes crucial, as players must consider which ones align best with their gameplay style, enhance their current abilities, or aid in obtaining valuable resources.
Unlocking Familiars In Hades 2
A Few Steps To Finish First
In order to summon familiars, Melinoë should perform a specific spell, called the “Familiar Spirits Invocation,” at a Cauldron situated in the Crossroads. To acquire this invocation, players must focus on collecting necessary items and use them at least twice. After these items have been gathered, Melinoe will then need to confront Hecate. If everything is executed correctly, Hecate will engage in a conversation with Melinoë before the battle regarding familiars.
Upon reaching the Crossroads again, engage with the pot to discover the incantation. To perform this incantation, Melinoe requires two units of Nectar and one unit of Lotus Flower. You can find Nectar in rooms marked with the symbol or buy it for 50 bones from the Wretched Broker. Lotus flowers can be found scattered across different rooms within Oceanus. After performing the Faith of Familiar Spirits, Melinoe will earn 1 Witch’s Delight. Offer this treat to an animal, and it will accompany Melinoe in future adventures as a familiar.
In the game Hades 2, players get to select from four animal companions: Frinos, Toula, Raki, and Hecuba. Each companion corresponds to a distinct resource that Melinoe can collect during her journeys in both the Underworld and the Surface. Picking the right companion for a particular resource not only boosts the chance of that resource showing up but also eliminates the need to play a mini-game to gather it. For instance, Toula simplifies fishing, making it more likely that fish will appear when Melinoe fishes with Toula present. Instead of playing the minigame, Toula automatically catches the fish for the player.

Following the use of the Woodland Life Charm, Melinoe will find herself face to face with Toula within the ornate chamber of Erebus. Upon conversing with her, Toula will exit Erebus and resurface elsewhere at a later time.
Initiate a speedy ground dash, conquer Polyphemus in Ephyra, then venture towards the Pier district. Remember to spot Toula on the left extremity of the pier before exiting. Offer her a Witch’s Delight, and she’ll align with Melinoe as a companion.

In my gaming adventure, you’ll stumble upon Raki hidden in the fountain area of the Crossroads. After taking a few steps past the soothing water feature, keep an eye to your left as you approach the paths leading out. You’ll spot a conspicuous white raven right before those exits. Be aware that the first time Melinoe engages in conversation with Raki, poof! He vanishes.
After that exhausting run, leap into another Underworld adventure until Melinoe encounters the fountain room within Erebus where Raki resides. Once engaged by Melinoe, Raki will vanish temporarily. In the subsequent Underworld escapade, locate the fountain room again in Erebus, and upon finding it a second time, Raki will present an opportunity for bonding with Melinoe. Offer the charming white raven a Witch’s Delight, and it will become Melinoe’s loyal companion as a familiar.

To locate Hecuba, journey to the Underworld and seek out Echo within the Fields of Sorrow. Tread along the path leading towards the gateway, and on occasions, you might find Hecuba loitering near the exit portals. Remember to watch out for a charming dog – its black coat camouflages it well against the floor.
Converse with Hecuba, making her vanish. Keep chatting with the other spirits in the Crossroads, enhancing their abilities until Hecate’s icon changes to an exclamation mark. Engage with the titaness, and she’ll grant you access to recruit her familiars – specifically Hecuba and Gale – via the “Shared Familiar Bonds” privilege.
Dive into another journey through the Underworld, locate Hecuba once more in the Plains of Sorrow, and on this occasion, Melinoe can offer Hecuba a reward. Feed the loyal dog a Witch’s Delight, and it will bond with Melinoe as a companion.

To enhance your familiar, locate it at the Crossroads. To boost the abilities of your familiar when accompanied by Melinoe, go to where the familiar usually is in the training area and instruct it to take a rest. After that, offer it Witch’s Delight to elevate one of its skills to the next level.
To brew another batch of Witch’s Delight, follow the Beast-Loved Morsel Alchemy recipe at your Cauldron. However, this recipe can only be utilized after Melinoe has chanted the Faith of Familiar Spirits spell. The elusive ingredient here is Star Dust. You can acquire it by casting the Abyssal Night Incantation, a charm you can get from Chaos at the Crossroads near the Pitch-Block Stone. If you find this challenging, you can also get Star Dust by completing Chaos Trials or buying it from the Broker for 600 Bones.
