As a seasoned World of Warcraft player with over a decade of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and excitement at the announcement of Classic Timewalking dungeons. The return of iconic instances like Deadmines, Dire Maul, Zul’Farrak, and Stratholme is a trip down memory lane that I’ve been eagerly anticipating since the initial announcement of WoW’s 20th anniversary event.

In a recent update, “World of Warcraft” unveiled a brief clip highlighting the dungeons set to appear in the “Classic” Timewalking feature. This exciting reveal includes four legendary dungeons, two of which are split into pairs as separate wings. Enthusiasts of “World of Warcraft” will have the opportunity to confront these six nostalgic instances during the forthcoming 20th anniversary event, and subsequently in future Timewalking events when “Classic” reappears in rotation.

Starting October 22nd, the 20th anniversary celebration for World of Warcraft commences concurrently with Patch 11.0.5’s release, running all the way to January 7, 2025. This grand in-game event offers a wealth of exciting content for players to savor. One of the novel activities is Classic Timewalking, which allows fans to revisit iconic dungeons at their current level, enabling entry into certain instances as they were in Vanilla WoW starting from level 10.

Currently, World of Warcraft is providing players an interactive digital walkthrough of these dungeons. Recently, Blizzard showcased the upcoming Classic dungeons for the new World of Warcraft Timewalking event on Twitter: Deadmines, Dire Maul, Zul’Farrak, and Stratholme. Interestingly, Dire Maul and Stratholme are divided into two distinct sections – Warpwood Quarter and Capital Gardens for Dire Maul, and Living and Undead portions for Stratholme – resulting in a total of six dungeons players can join during Classic Timewalking.

  • Deadmines
  • Dire Maul – Warpwood Quarter
  • Dire Maul – Capital Gardens
  • Zul’Farrak
  • Stratholme – Living side
  • Stratholme – Undead side

In the overhaul of Azeroth during Cataclysm in World of Warcraft, almost every dungeon from the Vanilla version underwent changes to some extent, including many that are part of the Classic Timewalking event. As a result, several dungeons that players might encounter during this event have been out of reach in contemporary World of Warcraft for nearly 15 years.

In addition to the traditional Timewalking experience, you’ll find fresh loot up for grabs using Timewarped Badges. Vendor Bobadormu, specifically catering to Classic Timewalking, has a variety of new goodies in store, such as a mount, toy, numerous pets, reputation tokens, and a host of transmogs, some even featuring items straight from WoW Classic’s Season of Discovery. Similar to the event, these rewards will resurface periodically, as Classic becomes part of the recurring Timewalking events schedule.

Regrettably, at this time, Vanilla World of Warcraft doesn’t include some old dungeons such as the Wailing Caverns and the Scarlet Monastery wings that were present in earlier versions. There isn’t a Timewalking raid available either. However, fans of World of Warcraft can delve into Blackrock Depths, a freshly introduced version of this expansive dungeon, during the 20th anniversary event. Whether or not Blackrock Depths will reappear again in future events or Timewalking cycles is uncertain, but it offers an exciting blend of new and nostalgic experiences nonetheless.
