A player in Skyrim built a working elevator using a cabbage and a lot of ingenuity! The Skyrim community is finding it hilarious and impressive – it’s both creative and wonderfully silly.
It’s hard to believe, but 2026 will be the 15th anniversary of Skyrim. Although there’s been some buzz about the next Elder Scrolls game, The Elder Scrolls 6, it will likely be a while before it’s released. Luckily, Skyrim‘s huge world and the 2025 remaster of Oblivion still offer plenty to explore for fans in the world of Tamriel. Players continue to find new and creative ways to enjoy these games, and this is just one recent example of that.
Skyrim Player Showcases Elevator Made with a Cabbage
A Reddit user named firefly99999 recently shared a clever video showing off an unusual elevator they built in Skyrim. Using only a cabbage and the game’s magic, they created a working lift! The player stands on a high bridge, drops the cabbage, and then uses Telekinesis to grab it. They then jump off the bridge, landing on the cabbage, and repeatedly use Telekinesis to lower it to the ground, effectively riding the cabbage like an elevator. In the end, the player safely reaches the ground, keeps the cabbage, and even earns three points in Alteration skill.

A clever trick involving cabbages is gaining popularity among Skyrim players, who are both amused and impressed by it. People are playfully suggesting it’s a unique way to improve their Alteration skill, and joking about the need to always carry a cabbage. Many are imagining the reactions of characters witnessing the Dragonborn descend on a vegetable. The technique reminds some of similar tricks in Minecraft, like using water to soften falls. However, Skyrim players also caution that this “cabbage elevator” can be dangerous – running out of magic or making a mistake could lead to a fatal fall.
Skyrim Players Find Interesting Ways to Survive Long Falls
Several players also wondered why firefly99999 didn’t use the ‘Become Ethereal’ dragon shout. This shout makes players temporarily invulnerable and stops their stamina from draining, and some have even used it to quickly fall from great heights. It works by activating the shout and then jumping, but players need to be mindful of how long the shout lasts to avoid landing right after it ends.
Sometimes, players can become nearly invincible in Skyrim simply by leveling up a lot. One player famously showed how their character could survive falls from great heights after reaching level 1337, giving them over 7,000 health points. While the falls still hurt and depleted their health, the character could walk away from what would normally be a fatal drop.
I love how players in games like Skyrim are so creative! Because those open-world games give you so much freedom, people are always discovering cool and useful tricks. Knowing Bethesda is building The Elder Scrolls 6 with a new engine, I can only imagine the crazy glitches and techniques we’ll all find when it finally comes out – and honestly, we’ll probably be discovering new ones for years to come!
