Nintendo Switch Online Playtest Program Has Been Data Mined

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of exhilaration at the latest Nintendo Switch Online playtest leak. It seems we may be on the cusp of a new MMO from the gaming titan, and if history is any indication, it promises to be a groundbreaking addition to their already impressive library.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled about the start of the Nintendo Switch Online playtest program. Already, information is spilling like a broken dam! It took mere minutes for the first tidbits to surface from someone on social media, and now, just hours later, additional details are popping up through data mining.

A user by the name of Sky began posting the information on Bluesky on Monday morning.

The information uncovered reveals that the codename of this game is “Rockstock.” It seems to feature a collection of what could be mechs or vehicles, along with mini-games. Notably, it’s being developed by Nintendo EPD 4, a team known for creating games like 1-2-Switch, Ring Fit Adventure, Nintendo Switch Sports, and other titles.

Additional findings included music tracks from the trial run, data suitable for a character customization tool like defining skin color or body type, and files hinting at both Player-vs-Environment (PvE) and Player-vs-Player (PvP) aspects of the game.

Please make room for another item first, as I’d like to give you a Beacon, but your inventory is full currently. Come back when you have some free space.

Regarding the song files, it seems Sky uploaded what appeared to be a complete soundtrack, allowing individuals to download and enjoy it at their leisure.

As of now, Nintendo hasn’t disclosed any details about the purpose of their playtest program. When they initially invited participants to join, they requested people not to divulge online what they experienced during testing. However, it appears that some didn’t follow this directive. From the leaked information over the past day or so, it seems plausible that Nintendo could be developing a Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game.
