The idea of gods isn’t new to the world of One Piece. Though the series started as a lighthearted adventure about pirates seeking treasure, the author, Oda, has gradually built a complex story that includes powerful, corrupt organizations and even divine beings.
As a huge One Piece fan, I’m completely blown away by the recent reveals! It’s been confirmed – our Luffy isn’t just a pirate, he’s actually the legendary Sun God Nika, a seriously powerful deity known as the Warrior of Liberation! But Nika isn’t the only god in this world. Oda’s been dropping hints about other powerful gods for a while now, and the Earth God is shaping up to be incredibly fascinating. While Oda’s kept their identity a secret, the latest events in the Egghead and Elbaf arcs have made things pretty clear: the Earth God is actually Imu, the Sovereign of the World! It’s such a mind-blowing twist, and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out!
One Piece Revealed The Earth God In The Harley
The Harley Features The World Lore Of One Piece
The idea of powerful gods existing within the world of One Piece first appeared during the Skypiea arc. Through a flashback involving Kalgara, we learned the Shandians once worshipped deities like the God of Rain, the God of Sun, the God of Earth, and the God of the Forest. Initially, these beliefs were seen as simple Shandian folklore. However, towards the end of the arc, the Shandians prayed to the Sun God for help, right before Luffy defeated Enel. This moment strongly hinted at a connection between Luffy and the Sun God, a foreshadowing Oda introduced early in the story.
During the Wano Country arc, Luffy’s Devil Fruit awakened, and it was dramatically revealed that he wasn’t just eating the Gum-Gum Fruit. Its true name is the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika – a fruit embodying the legendary Sun God, Nika. This discovery not only explained the source of Luffy’s incredible new powers but also hinted that other Gods exist within the world of One Piece.
The Elbaf arc introduced the Harley, a text that expanded on the history and background of the One Piece world. Within the Harley, Oda revealed the existence of multiple Gods. He specifically mentioned the God of the Forest, who previously appeared in the Skypiea arc, and the Sea God, who fans know is Princess Shirahoshi, a mermaid princess with the powers of Poseidon. Importantly, Oda also referenced the Earth God, another figure first introduced during the Skypiea arc.
Okay, so picture this: the Earth God just lost it – total fury! And teamed up with this terrifying Serpent of Hellfire, and together they basically covered the world in chaos and ruin. It’s a really powerful image – Harley nailed it!
I’ve been studying the ancient texts, and it seems a massive conflict happened way back in what they call the First World. Apparently, the God of Earth and a fiery serpent fought the Sun God, and it completely destroyed everything. Interestingly, the Earth God seems to have survived that catastrophe, because the texts show him present during the Second World, which also ended in destruction. Now, in the current era – the world of One Piece as we know it, the Third World – the Earth God is still around. It’s a recurring pattern, and it makes you wonder what will happen next.
Imu Holds The Power Of The Earth God According To The Harley
Similar to the Sun God, the Earth God is an incredibly powerful being in the One Piece universe. It’s important to remember that in the First World, the Earth God, alongside the Serpent of Hellfire, completely destroyed everything. Some believe the Earth God might even be stronger than the Sun God, which seems to match Imu’s character.
What really makes me believe Imu is the Earth God comes down to the structure of the World Government and its connection to the Celestial Dragons. It’s pretty evident in the story that Imu is at the very top, with five elders directly beneath him – often called the Five Elder Stars or Planets. It seems like each of those elders is meant to represent a different planet, which is a compelling clue.
- Warcury represents Mercury
- Nusjuro represents Venus
- Mars represents planet Mars
- Ju Peter represents Jupiter
- Saturn was a direct representation of planet Saturn
At the end of the Egghead arc, Saturn died and was succeeded by Garling, who embodies the moon. This aligns with Luffy being a representation of the sun, or the Sun God. This leaves three more planets to account for: Uranus, who is an Ancient Weapon yet to be fully revealed; Neptune, who is Princess Shirahoshi due to her father’s name and her status as an Ancient Weapon; and Pluto, which is the Ancient Weapon Pluton, currently dormant beneath Wano and controllable only by Momonosuke. With these connections established, only Earth remains unaccounted for. Considering this, Imu logically fits the role of Earth, making him the Earth God within the world of One Piece.

Imu’s abilities are directly connected to the Earth God. They appear to be immortal and can even grant immortality to others, giving them extraordinarily long lives. This power over life, and the ability to control people, seems to come from the Earth itself. Some believe Imu is actually an evil earth god, and that they are fated to fight against Nika, the Sun God.
The Earth God Vs The Sun God Is Bound To Repeat Once Again
Ancient texts, like the Harley, describe a first world destroyed when the Sun God Nika arrived on Earth. The Earth God, Imu, fought Nika alongside a fiery serpent, leading to total devastation. This conflict mirrored a later war during the Void Century, where Imu battled Joy Boy, again causing widespread destruction that resulted in the world being submerged.
The ancient conflict between Nika and Imu is happening again, this time in the world’s most vulnerable regions. It feels like these two powerful figures – representing the sun and the earth – are fated to fight until the world finds true balance, and the final arc of One Piece will show this epic battle. This time, Luffy, embodying the power of the sun, will defeat Imu, who represents the oppressive forces of the earth, and finally dismantle the unfair system Imu created, bringing lasting peace.
