Boruto: 8 Characters Who Completely Ruined the Series

The Boruto series has brought in many new characters who are shaping the story through what they do and decide. From Boruto Uzumaki himself to the recent villains, these additions have significantly expanded the world of ninjas and its possibilities.

While Boruto has many characters, some actually detract from the story and frustrate viewers instead of making it better. Fans often feel disappointed by these characters, believing the series would be stronger without them. From annoying characters who create pointless drama to villains who aren’t well-developed, Boruto unfortunately has its share of characters who diminish the overall enjoyment.

Kawaki Uzumaki

Kawaki Uzumaki has faced a lot of criticism, largely because his actions led to Naruto Uzumaki’s difficult situation in the story. Fans are particularly upset that he caused Naruto to be trapped in a timeless dimension, especially after everything Konoha has done to help him, and they’d hoped he would change for the better.

Kawaki hasn’t changed, and things are actually getting worse. He’s becoming increasingly consumed by his desire to protect Naruto and surpass everyone else, putting him on a dangerous course. He pushes away anyone who tries to understand him, isolating himself and potentially becoming a threat to those around him.

Momoshiki Otsutsuki

The idea of a ridiculously powerful alien villain isn’t unusual in the world of ninja, but when Momoshiki Otsutsuki showed up in Boruto, many fans were disappointed. They felt the series was repeating the same threat with the Otsutsuki Clan instead of returning to the more classic conflicts between ninja villages.

Momoshiki Otsutsuki’s arrival felt sudden and lacked sufficient foreshadowing, making his introduction feel rushed. To make matters worse, he seemed to exist only to quickly boost Boruto Uzumaki’s power. Boruto became incredibly strong in a very short period, which was a stark difference from the older generation of ninjas, who earned their skills through years of dedicated training and effort.

Code

Before the story jumped ahead in time, Code was the main enemy in Boruto. Naruto Uzumaki and the other ninja in Konoha were very cautious around him because he possessed the power of Isshiki Otsutsuki. He was a serious threat capable of defeating Naruto and those he cared about, particularly after Amado removed the restrictions on his abilities.

When Boruto: Two Blue Vortex started, Code, who once seemed like a major threat, quickly became a much weaker villain. He doesn’t seem intimidating anymore, especially considering he previously challenged Sasuke and put Konoha in danger. Instead of becoming a powerful character, he was easily controlled by others, particularly Jura. Currently, Code’s location is unknown, and most fans aren’t concerned about his absence.

Kobu

Recent episodes of Boruto have introduced Lord Kobu, an aide to the Fire Daimyo, who has quickly become unpopular with fans. He unexpectedly challenged Shikamaru’s leadership and overstepped his boundaries by interfering in Konoha’s affairs, causing frustration with his unnecessary involvement.

Rather than helping Shikamaru and his friends, Kobu keeps creating unnecessary political problems. He also makes things worse with harsh comments that put Shikamaru on the defensive. As a result, many viewers are hoping the author, Ikemoto, will give Kobu a strong and conclusive departure from the story after all his meddling.

Sakura Uchiha

Throughout much of the Boruto manga, Sakura Uchiha is noticeably absent. Fans have expressed disappointment with the lack of focus on her character, especially considering her skills and importance in the previous series, even after Sasuke’s departure. Compared to Naruto and Sasuke, Sakura’s presence and role in Boruto feel very small.

Currently, Konoha needs Sakura to step up and help, but she hasn’t been actively involved. Although she’s now focused on running Konoha’s medical facilities and isn’t a fighter anymore, the village still needs her strength to support her daughter and friends in battling the Shinju Clones.

Shino Aburame

A major criticism of the Boruto series is that it doesn’t feature enough of the older, established ninja, and Shino Aburame is a prime example. What frustrates fans even more is that despite having interesting and unique skills, Shino was largely turned into a joke, often becoming the target of teasing by the younger generation of ninja.

The Shino Aburame in Boruto is a far cry from his Naruto counterpart. Instead of showcasing his cleverness and unique abilities in battle, the series unfortunately diminishes his character, overlooking the intelligence and skills that once made him a formidable ninja.

Konohamaru Sarutobi

Many fans feel Konohamaru Sarutobi hasn’t lived up to his potential in Boruto. He used to seem very promising, but now the other members of Team 7 are much stronger. He often needs to be rescued instead of being a protector, which is disappointing to viewers.

Honestly, as much as I like Konohamaru, I just don’t see him stepping into Naruto’s shoes as Hokage. He’s a good guy, but he hasn’t really shown the strength or leadership qualities you’d expect, and he doesn’t have any truly amazing accomplishments to point to. It’s tough to picture him as the next Hokage when compared to everything Naruto achieved – he just hasn’t proven he’s up to the task yet.

Hinata Hyuga

Similar to Sakura, Hinata Hyuga doesn’t get much focus in Boruto. She’s primarily shown managing the Uzumaki household, and her impressive fighting abilities aren’t utilized. While it’s perfectly fine for Hinata to be a dedicated homemaker, the show doesn’t do a good job of balancing that side of her life with her skills as a powerful ninja of Konoha.

Hinata, who was destined to be a key figure in the Hyuga Clan, hasn’t had much presence in the story. Her powerful Byakugan ability was also underused, becoming almost insignificant in Boruto until her son recently gained it. To make matters worse, she was sidelined during a crucial event by being sealed alongside Naruto, leaving her unable to contribute to the current storyline.
