The Elbaf Arc of One Piece has revealed the full extent of Loki’s Devil Fruit power, and it’s easily one of the most formidable abilities Eiichiro Oda has created so far. Previously described as potentially world-destroying, the fruit’s power has now been showcased, and it’s truly awe-inspiring.
Like all Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits in One Piece, Loki’s power probably has a unique, hidden ability. The author, Oda, hasn’t revealed it yet, but has hinted at it in the story.
Loki’s Dragon Devil Fruit Is A Mythical Zoan
Loki Holds The Power Of The Nidhoggr Dragon
The story of Loki’s Devil Fruit began at the start of the Elbaf arc. Fourteen years prior, Loki, then a prince, killed his father, King Harald, the ruler of Elbaf, earning him the title ‘The Accursed Prince.’ He was then blamed for stealing and eating Elbaf’s legendary Devil Fruit, which locals believed gave him powers resembling a god. This fruit was considered Elbaf’s most prized possession, and therefore, exceptionally powerful.
The recent flashback to Elbaf revealed Loki’s Devil Fruit abilities during his fight with King Harald. Although Oda didn’t fully show the transformation, it was evident that Loki’s fruit was a Mythical Zoan type, allowing him to turn into a powerful creature. This ability made Loki overwhelmingly strong, as he easily defeated King Harald, demonstrating just how potent his Devil Fruit was.
In One Piece chapter 1174, Loki’s Devil Fruit ability was fully revealed: he can transform into a massive black dragon that filled the entire sky above Elbaf. It seems his fruit allows him to become the Nidhogg, a legendary creature from Norse mythology, and it’s incredibly powerful. Like all Mythical Zoan fruits, Loki’s will also grant him a unique special ability.
Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits are unique because they transform the user into legendary creatures and grant them a special, additional power. For example, Sengoku can create shockwaves with his hands. Katarina Devon’s fruit lets her copy others’ appearances and potentially their abilities, while Kaido’s granted him control over elements and near-invulnerability. For Loki, this extra power could manifest as either controlling fire or inflicting damage to the soul.
Loki’s Hidden Ability Could Be Fire Manipulation
Western Dragons Can Spit Fire
When thinking about Loki’s powers in One Piece, his ability to control fire is key. Although he first appeared as the Nidhogg Dragon in chapter 1174 using lightning, Oda seems to be connecting Loki with both lightning and fire, establishing him as a formidable character. This makes sense considering the established weaknesses of Elbaf – lightning and fire – and suggests Loki might actually be able to control both elements.
Adding to his skills, Loki is a Western Dragon, and those dragons can all breathe fire. Giving Loki the power to control fire and lightning would be a great fit, especially since his weapon, Ragnir, has already demonstrated ice manipulation. This would give Loki mastery over both fire and ice, making him an incredibly powerful character in the world of One Piece.
Say, have you heard of the Galleila Band? — Jarul to Harald
Loki’s fire abilities will likely be crucial for his future role in the story. If he’s destined to liberate the Galleila Band of Giants, he’ll need fire to melt the ice imprisoning them, making this a very significant power for him to have.
Loki Might Be Able To Do Soul Damage With His Devil Fruit
Loki Could Kill A Holy Knight
Loki is incredibly powerful, not only controlling lightning and potentially fire, but also possessing a unique ability to inflict lasting damage to the soul. This was first demonstrated in his battle with King Harald. While strong fighters like Gaban and Shanks seriously wounded Harald with their powerful attacks, they couldn’t stop him from regenerating. It wasn’t until Loki consumed his Devil Fruit that he was finally able to completely defeat Harald. This outcome even surprised Imu, as Harald was considered an unstoppable force. Loki, however, proved capable of destroying him with the power of his Devil Fruit.

This suggests his Devil Fruit powers can directly harm a person’s soul. If true, it explains why Loki is such a threat – he could potentially negate the effects of Imu’s power and finally be able to help the people of Elbaf.
It’s understandable why this Devil Fruit was so carefully protected by the country for many years. This fruit had been passed down through the royal family for centuries, and no one could eat it until the destined time – when Loki finally consumed it. It’s possible the fruit sensed the approaching Great War and knew the moment was right to reveal its power, especially with the Demon army preparing to mobilize.
Loki’s Devil Fruit power, which lets him control fire and harm people’s souls, would make him a perfect opponent to Imu’s influence, and fans are excited to see how the author, Oda, develops this incredibly strong ability. Combined with the power of Ragnir, Loki becomes a formidable character with a diverse range of skills, potentially strong enough to challenge even the world’s ruler, Imu.
