The following contains spoilers for the Chainsaw Man manga.
Denji, the main character in Chainsaw Man, ultimately wants a normal life – a girlfriend and regular meals. However, he’s constantly forced into fighting dangerous enemies, including devils, hybrids, and skilled assassins, whether it’s out of obligation or just to stay alive. While he can’t defeat the most powerful beings, known as Primal Fears, he’s capable of taking on most other fighters in the Chainsaw Man universe.
At the beginning of the story, Denji had trouble defeating even relatively weak Devils like the Bat and Leech, and it took him a long time to overcome the Eternity Devil. However, he’s become much more powerful as the Chainsaw Man manga has progressed, and it’s clear why most Devils either want to control him or stay out of his way. Even strong fighters who can put up a decent fight against Denji rarely have a real chance of winning. Importantly, some of these characters have lost to him before, showing that his victories aren’t just lucky accidents. He’s consistently able to defeat them, proving he’s the most powerful Devil hybrid around.
Aki Has Several Devil Contracts But Can’t Defeat Denji
Aki Also Lost to Denji as a Gun Fiend
Image via MAPPA. Even though Aki Hayakawa might be the weakest opponent Denji can actually beat in Chainsaw Man, he’s a very skilled and determined devil hunter. He gained an advantage in fights – proven effective against enemies like the Leech Devil – by making deals with both the Fox and Future Devils.
Aki is a skilled fighter even up close. If his long-range attacks with the Fox Devil’s power aren’t enough, he can use his katana and fighting skills to easily defeat most enemies. However, even pushing himself to his limits with his devil contracts, he still wouldn’t be able to beat Denji.
Kishibe is a Mentor Who Can’t Possibly Defeat His Student
Kishibe Has Been Left Behind By the Power Scaling

Kishibe is a powerful human fighter capable of going toe-to-toe with incredibly strong devils, hybrids, and other supernatural beings, thanks to his skill and clever deals with devils. He quickly became a tough mentor to both Denji and Power in the early parts of the Chainsaw Man story, and surprisingly, he even defeated them in combat.
Both Denji and Power have the ability to heal and recover thanks to their powers, but Kishibe was still a more skilled fighter. However, Denji has grown much stronger and more experienced since then. Now, even with all of his devil contracts, Kishibe doesn’t have a realistic chance of winning against him.
Quanxi is Dangerous, But Isn’t Going to Beat Chainsaw Man
Quanxi Stands Even Less of a Chance Fighting Alone
Image via Shonen Jump. The International Assassins Arc in the Chainsaw Man manga introduced several foreign assassins, including Quanxi, a powerful Chinese devil hunter. She’s a highly skilled fighter, potentially even better than Kishibe, and she’s accompanied by four powerful fiends who fight alongside her.
Quanxi is a powerful opponent with impressive abilities, and she could certainly challenge Chainsaw Man. However, she’s unlikely to win. While she may have briefly overcome Denji during the International Assassins Arc, the difference in their power has grown too significant. Despite Quanxi’s skills, Denji’s extraordinary strength and ability to quickly heal give him a clear advantage.
The Violence Devil Can’t Beat Denji at His Own Game
Violence is a Virtue in This World, But Denji Has More of It
Image via MAPPA. It’s surprising that the Violence Devil isn’t actually one of the most powerful characters in Chainsaw Man. Despite his intimidating title, he’s not a Primal Fear, and while he’s a strong opponent, Denji can defeat him with some effort. The Violence Devil seems happy playing a supporting role rather than being a main threat.

It’s strange, but the Violence Devil intentionally limits his power during fights by using poison gas. Even without this limitation, he’d still lose to Denji. The Violence Devil is a talented fighter, but Denji’s chainsaws and incredible ability to heal make him unbeatable.
Katana Man Lost to Denji Once and Will Lose Even Faster This Time
Katana Man Will Never Know Vengeance at This Rate
Image via MAPPA. Katana Man was an early example of a human-devil hybrid, much like the main character, Denji, and hinted at the potential of another character, Reze. When he first appeared, Katana Man seemed like a true match for Denji in terms of fighting ability, wielding three blades – one in each hand and one attached to his head.
Katana Man initially seemed stronger than Denji, but Denji surprised him by revealing a significant power boost that changed the fight. While Katana Man still holds a grudge, Denji has become much more powerful and isn’t worried about him anymore. If they were to fight again, Denji would likely win without much difficulty.
Santa Claus Will Need Another Primal Fear’s Power to Fight Chainsaw Man
Not Even Darkness Will Overcome Denji’s Chainsaws
Image via Shonen Jump. During the International Assassins Arc, Santa Claus emerged as a surprisingly frightening villain. Her power allowed her to create a huge army of dangerous dolls to do her fighting for her. Villains who control puppets are particularly scary because they can use their minions to protect themselves and also pit heroes against each other.
Santa Claus became even more powerful after receiving energy from a powerful devil born from primal fears, deep within Hell. Denji managed to fight back by setting himself on fire with sparks and gasoline, effectively countering Santa’s darkness. If they were to battle again, Denji would likely use the same fiery strategy, or try to fight in a brightly lit area to give himself an advantage.
Asa Mitaka is Still Figuring Out How to Fight
Yoru is Sometimes Frustrated By Her Human Host
Image via Shonen Jump. Asa Mitaka, a high school student, has become the central character in Chainsaw Man, similar to how Denji was before. This means she’s developing impressive abilities. Even though she doesn’t want to fight, Asa is incredibly powerful, thanks to Yoru, one of the Four Horsemen, who can transform anything into a weapon.
Asa and Yoru are incredibly dangerous opponents for Denji, capable of transforming places like Michigan into powerful weapons. However, Denji has more combat experience and a better understanding of his own powers. Asa and Yoru are still learning to work together, often hindering each other. This means Denji has a good chance of winning if he can capitalize on their lack of coordination.
Reze Was a Titanic Threat in Her Own Arc
Denji Beat Her Once and Can Do it Again
As expected, Reze, the Soviet assassin, was the strongest fighter during her storyline. This level of strength was necessary to create genuine danger and excitement, especially considering the deep emotional connection between her and Denji. Even after Denji grew more powerful and skilled, Reze still poses a significant threat to him, at least potentially.
Currently in the Chainsaw Man manga, Denji is capable of defeating Reze, the Bomb Devil, though it will be a difficult fight. Reze is still very powerful, and Denji will need to use his chainsaws to their full extent to win. It would be best if there was water nearby, as Denji could use the same strategy that worked before to finish her off.
