Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 23 Review: Maru’s Cursed Technique Saves The Day

The current arc of Jujutsu Kaisen is reaching its peak, and Chapter 23 made it clearer than ever that the story is nearing its conclusion. While many fans hoped author Gege Akutami and artist Yuji Iwasaki would extend the series, it always had a planned shorter length. The latest chapter strongly suggests the end is now in sight for this manga.

The main conflicts in Jujutsu Kaisen are coming to an end, signaling a new era for the series. Key characters like Yuji Itadori and Maru are central to this shift, as the story appears to be concluding its current arc. While the initial goal was to eliminate cursed energy from all sorcerers in Japan, the plan has evolved, and Yuji Itadori now plays the biggest role in how things unfold.

The Plan To End Cursed Spirits Changes

In the story Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, it was revealed that there are two ways to stop cursed spirits from being reborn. The first is to remove all cursed energy from sorcerers in Japan, which would eliminate the source of the spirits. The second is to turn every person in Japan into a sorcerer, allowing them to control and minimize cursed energy leakage, also preventing the spirits’ creation.

Yuji has found problems with both previous plans and proposed a new approach. He believes completely eliminating cursed energy isn’t possible. Instead, he wants to significantly reduce cursed energy within sorcerers and have Maru alter the color of Cursed Spirits’ souls in Japan, making them distinguishable from the Kalyans. If successful, this would resolve the conflict between the people of Rumel and Earth.

Cursed Spirits and Kalyans will now be considered separate entities, and the number of new Cursed Spirits appearing each year will significantly decrease. This change will allow future sorcerers to retain their cursed energy and fully develop their potential. However, this is currently just a plan, and its success isn’t guaranteed. Maru has started altering the souls of existing Cursed Spirits, but much work remains to be done in the final chapters.

Dabura Vs Mahoraga Ends In A Anticlimactic Manner

A highly anticipated moment in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 23 was the fight between Dabura and Mahoraga. After Dabura expanded his domain, it seemed he was about to defeat Mahoraga. However, Maru intervened using his cursed technique, similar to how he previously dealt with Yuji Itadori, and pulled Dabura into his technique’s effect.

Maru unexpectedly stopped a fight between two powerful warriors, which is a strong moment for his character, but it unfortunately meant fans didn’t get to see that battle play out. Dabura is no longer involved in the story, as he’s left Earth. This chapter was quite confusing – Dabura somehow ended up in Africa and retrieved the black rope, which was previously thought to be destroyed. Using the rope, he lifted a curse on his sister, freeing both of them from the restriction that kept them from returning to their home planet, Simuria.

The characters are heading home, marking the end for what many fans considered the most compelling new addition to the series. While it was bittersweet to see Dabura’s fight with Mahoraga cut short, fans still enjoyed the battle. Luckily, the next two chapters promise a flashback, potentially revealing how the fight was interrupted and what happened to Yuka Okkotsu, Dabura, and Yuji Itadori.

Maru And Yuji Bring About A Great Change

The Great Change Finally Begins

In the recent chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen, Maru and Yuji Itadori were often shown together, but it was Maru who ultimately completed the crucial task of using Idle Transfiguration to change the Earth. Yuji had already left to handle a separate, personal responsibility – potentially saving Yuka Okkotsu or defeating Mahoraga. The story ended somewhat abruptly in Chapter 23, and Gege Akutami needs to clarify Yuji’s actions in the next installment to make things clearer.

To cap things off, fans witnessed Maru use his unique ability to create peace between the Rumelians and humans. By combining his power with that of Mahito, he altered the spiritual energy of cursed spirits and drastically reduced the cursed energy within both humans and Rumelians. However, this process isn’t finished yet, so there’s still plenty of room for complications in the next couple of chapters.

  • It’s important to watch how the story unfolds in Jujutsu Kaisen, as many feel the series has already reached a satisfying ending, and the remaining two chapters may be unnecessary. Considering the author, Gege Akutami, has expressed a desire to continue creating manga, this could be a setup for a future sequel. For now, fans are left to wait for the next chapter and see how things clarify, as the current situation in Jujutsu Kaisen is somewhat unclear.

Many fans were disappointed with this chapter because the ending didn’t feel satisfying after so much anticipation. Hopefully, the next two chapters will improve things and address the problems created in this one. While the story moved the plot forward as expected, it felt rushed, probably because JJK Modulo is a shorter series.
