As a gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the return of Max Caulfield in Life is Strange: Double Exposure has been nothing short of exhilarating. After all these years, it’s like reuniting with an old friend you never thought you’d see again.
At long last, Life is Strange: Double Exposure has arrived, welcoming Max Caulfield back to our screens after nearly a decade. Since her brief return in the prequel episode Before the Storm, this marks Max’s significant comeback in a Life is Strange game since the original title was launched in 2015.
It was a truly remarkable experience for me to chat with Hannah Telle, the talented actress who played Max Caulfield, about her memorable reprisal of this cherished role after such a long time.

Return of the Max
Double Exposure, a beloved title known for its unexpected plot twists, thrilling turns, and heartfelt emotional sequences, follows the same pattern as other games within the series. Over a span of three years, Deck Nine carefully constructed this game as a direct continuation of the episodic release from 2015.
This game is played in a single session – while it has multiple chapters, there’s no need to download additional episodes or wait for them to become available.
Hannah explained the adjustments she needed to make to accurately portray a ‘mature’ Max Caulfield in Double Exposure.
I was thrilled that there was interest in seeing more of Max, and it made me happy to know her journey would carry on. This character is one I deeply care for and hold close to my heart.
It was clear to me that many people held firm beliefs about how Max might transform as he grew older. I found myself under quite a bit of stress, aiming to ensure that the fans would be content with my portrayal.
Additionally, it was important for me to remain faithful to this character’s authentic development path, and I found myself deeply connected to her story of achieving artistic success.
Initially, not many people foresaw the comeback of Max Caulfield in a new Life is Strange installment. During our conversation, Hannah shared details about her disappearance from public view and the need for ambiguity regarding her personal life. This was necessary as Square Enix arranged for her move from California to Colorado, where she worked on Double Exposure under strict confidentiality.
Over the course of three years, Hannah dedicated her time during the project’s entirety to the areas of motion capture and voice acting for Max Caulfield in Double Exposure’s production.
Despite the conclusion of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, there’s hope yet for Max as she is expected to reappear in the subsequent game. However, Hannah didn’t reveal much about this matter.
Regarding the future, I’m clueless, but I’m incredibly thrilled, and I sincerely hope Max will return so we can delve deeper into her future and uncover her inner depths. I believe there are entire universes hidden within her character.
There’s so much to explore with her, and I’m just excited to see where she ends up.
If you’re curious about Hannah Telle’s hypothetical choice in a world with powers, she might choose the ability to turn invisible at will. With this power, she could secretly observe people and be in their presence unnoticed.
