How to Beat Primus the Ancient in Crimson Desert

Primus the Ancient is a challenging enemy in Crimson Desert, and one of three powerful Ancients you’ll encounter. These flying foes attack with missiles, making aerial combat difficult. However, we’ve discovered effective strategies to defeat them quickly.

Whether you’re trying to help Aeserion, the Shackled God, or just happened to find Primus, this guide has everything you need. We’ll tell you where to find Primus, what items to bring, and how to defeat him easily to get his valuable rewards, which are also detailed here.

Essentials to Bring Before Fighting Primus the Ancient in Crimson Desert

  1. Palmar Pills will stop you from restarting a fight, since you can use them to revive.
  2. Recovery Items like Meat Skewers keep you stocked up on Health and Spirit.
  3. Primus is a flying boss, so you’re going to need Focused Shot to shoot hard-hitting and rapid-fire arrows at him.
  4. Focused Shot requires Marksmanship Lv 2 (blue skill tree) and Focus Lv 2 (green skill tree).
  5. Stock up on Arrows or Sleep Arrows from vendors and bring a bow (we didn’t even upgrade ours, and the boss fight was still easy enough).

How to Find Primus the Ancient in Crimson Desert

  1. Primus the Ancient is found at Arrowhead Rock in Dewhaven Territory, which is in the south region of the map (marked above).
  2. If you head to this location and you cannot find Primus, then it’s likely that you need to start the Aeserion, the Great Serpent Faction Quest in the Deleysia tab. This can be started by speaking with Aeserion at the Serpent Shrine in Dewhaven Territory.

You can battle Primus on another cliff in Dewhaven Territory, but if you find him anywhere else, we suggest returning to the marked location on the map. He sometimes has a glitch that causes him to disappear, which would reset your progress.

How to Beat Primus the Ancient in Crimson Desert

  1. When Primus is in the air, hold L2, then L3+R3, then R1 four times to mark Primus with your arrows, then let go of the buttons to fire four rapid arrows at him in slow-motion.
  2. Focused Shot will be used to increase Primus’s Stun Bar, and when it’s full, he will drop to the ground.
  3. While Primus is on the ground, use R1+R2 to perform a finisher, which deals great damage. You should also deploy R1+R2 Turning Slash attacks whenever Primus is grounded, which he can be after he performs a dive bomb.
  4. For the most part, Primus’s attacks are easy to predict, as he will fly up and shoot homing missiles at you, which deal immense damage, so make sure to spam heal and try to block them with a shield, as dodging is near impossible against them.
  5. Repeat the pattern of using Focused Shot to build Stun, then Turning Slash to deal damage, and Primus will die in a few minutes.

All Primus the Ancient Rewards in Crimson Desert

For defeating Primus the Ancient, you will earn the following items:

  1. Ancient Ring: Wearable ring that provides +2 Attack, +1 Attack Speed, +2% Stamina Regen.
  2. Ancient Reckoning: Creates a deadly vortex around the enemy, dealing additional damage (Imbue Wind Abyss Gear).
  3. Sage’s Eye: Permanently increases the speed of learning when it comes to knowledge.
  4. Abyss Artifact: Used for Skill Points and upgrading weapons/armor past Lv 4.
