Praveus the Ancient has arrived in Crimson Desert seeking immense power, but Kliff is ready to challenge him. If you’re looking for Praveus, or have already encountered him, we’ll guide you through a simple strategy to defeat this boss.
Here’s a list of things you’ll need to succeed, including the best skills, weapons, and armor to protect against heat damage. We’ll also cover which attacks to defend against, so you can defeat the boss quickly and help the Shackled God in Dewhaven.
Praevus the Ancient is one of three powerful bosses you’ll face in the Aeserion “Shackled God” questline. If you need help with the other two bosses, check out our guides for Priscus the Ancient and Primus the Ancient.
What to Bring Before Fighting Praveus the Ancient in Crimson Desert
- Palmar Pills: These can revive you after you die, meaning you won’t have to restart a boss fight when they’re close to death.
- Recovery Items: Meat Skewers are the perfect healing item, as they provide decent Health and Spirit, with just two ingredients.
- Focused Shot: This skill from the green skill tree is essential, as Praveus the Ancient is a flying boss who won’t want to land, so shooting him down is absolutely necessary.
- Bow & Arrow: Since Praveus the Ancient flies around, a Bow and Arrows are needed. We used regular Arrows and the default Bow, which was upgraded to Lv 3.
- Heat-Resistant Armor / Abyss Gears: Praevus uses fire attacks, and the boss arena is covered in fire, so your health will drain, and you’ll get set on fire if you get too hot. Click here to grab a Heat-Resistant Armor Set.
Where to Find Praveus the Ancient in Crimson Desert
- Praveus the Ancient can be found at the Abyss Debris, which is just west of Tashkalp in the Crimson Desert region.
- If Praveus is for some reason not here, then you may need to start the Aeserion, the Great Serpent Faction Quest from Deleysia, which is found at the Serpent Shrine in Dewhaven (south island).
How to Beat Praveus the Ancient in Crimson Desert
- Praveus the Ancient is a flying boss, so you’ll first need to knock him out of the air.
- You can do this with Focused Shot (Hold L2 to aim the bow, then L3+R3 to enter Focused Shot, then R1 to mark Praveus, then let go to fire 4 arrows that deal Stun).
- When stunned, Praveus will drop to the floor, opening him up to further ground-based attacks. We recommend Turning Slash (R1+R2) and Heavy Attacks (R2) to chip away at his health.
- While Praveus does fly, he often flies low enough for your Turning Slash attacks to reach him. Try to bring him to the north area of the arena, where he will be stuck against the rocks, allowing you to spam attacks against him.
- When it comes to attacks to watch out for, Praveus will often shoot fire lasers and meteors at you, which can be dodged. Failing a dodge, you might get set on fire, so spam roll on the floor to put it out.
