Pokemon GO Reveals Gen 8 Pokemon Debut for April Event

The popular game Pokemon GO is adding Silicobra and its evolved form, Sandaconda, during its upcoming Sustainability Week event. 2024 has been a busy year for Pokemon GO, with many big events happening one after another since the start of the year. The game just started its 10th anniversary season, called Memories in Motion, which will run until June 2nd. Players can expect even more Pokemon to be added to the game in the coming months, including a Ground-type from the Galar region.

While the first group of Pokémon from Generation 8 arrived in Pokémon GO in 2020, some Pokémon from the Galar region are still not available. The developers are consistently adding these Pokémon through special events, like the recent Bug Out event in March which introduced Blipbug and its evolutions. Before that, the game hadn’t added any new Gen 8 Pokémon since December 2025. However, players likely won’t have to wait much longer for the next Galar Pokémon, as a popular snake-like Pokémon has been announced to be coming soon.

Pokemon GO Reveals Sustainability Week Event with Silicobra Debut

Pokémon GO has announced that its Sustainability Week 2026 event will introduce the Ground-type Pokémon Silicobra and its evolved form, Sandaconda. The event runs from April 14th to April 20th. Players will be able to find Silicobra appearing in the wild and evolve it into Sandaconda by collecting 50 Silicobra Candy. Silicobra is a well-loved Pokémon originally found in the Galar region, and many players have been waiting for it to come to Pokémon GO.

In addition to Silicobra, the event will also feature a shiny version of Toedscool and a special Galarian Corsola wearing pink sunglasses. It’s currently unknown if this costumed Corsola can evolve. Galarian Corsola with sunglasses will appear more often along Routes, and players will have a better chance of finding shiny Togetic, Trubbish, and Lapras.

During the current event in Pokemon GO, special Pokemon like Castform, Seedot, Wiglett, Toedscool, and Silicobra are appearing worldwide. While all are available globally, Seedot, Wiglett, and Silicobra will be more common in environments where they naturally live – Silicobra seems to prefer desert-like areas. A special event GO Pass is also available, offering benefits like faster Egg hatching and increased XP from spinning PokeStops. A deluxe version of the pass includes a unique avatar pose. Players can hatch Lapras, Togepi, normal Castform, Trubbish, and Galarian Corsola (with pink glasses) from 7km Eggs. This event follows the recent April Community Day featuring Tinkatink.

Sustainability Week is a yearly event in Pokémon GO that celebrates Earth Day in April. While the event didn’t happen in 2025 after running for four years, it’s returning in 2026. This year, besides the introduction of Silicobra, the event highlights Pokémon GO‘s Routes feature, which encourages walking and community interaction. Players hoping to find lots of Galarian Corsola with pink sunglasses should definitely take advantage of the Routes bonuses. Routes also let players send and receive Gifts from around the world, making it easier to collect postcards for different Vivillon forms.

As Memories in Motion enters its final week, exciting new content is on the way for Pokémon GO. On March 28th, the highly anticipated Gigantamax Pikachu will become available. The latest trailer also hinted at the future release of Flittle and Espathra, though Pokémon GO hasn’t announced specific dates for those Pokémon just yet. Expect an official update in the coming weeks.
