In Ghost of Yotei Legends, the Samurai class excels at drawing enemy attention and surviving tough battles. Its special abilities let you quickly break an enemy’s defenses with well-timed blocks, keeping you in the fight longer. Plus, Samurai is unique because it’s the only class that can wield any weapon, making it a versatile asset to any team. To get the most out of this class, it’s important to create a strong build with the right abilities, perks, and gear.
Best Build for Samurai in Ghost of Yotei Legends
In Ghost of Yotei Legends, the Samurai is designed to be a tough, front-line fighter who draws enemy attacks. This lets your teammates, like Archers and Mercenaries, safely attack from a distance. In game modes such as Incursions and Survival, your job as a Samurai is to keep the enemies focused on you, stay alive, and create opportunities for your team to deal damage.
For Samurai builds designed for tanking, the best Class Ability is Spirit Pull. It lets you steal health from enemies around you and boosts your damage in close combat, giving you both better survivability and more offensive power during long battles. While the other ability, which uses fire to break an enemy’s defenses, is helpful, it doesn’t provide the same level of consistent health recovery.
When customizing Perks, prioritize increasing stagger damage. The most crucial decision is with Perk 3. Although many players like upgrading Hachiman’s Strike to hit five times, Hachiman’s Gift is a better choice for this strategy. It significantly restores your health during the three hits and creates a small healing area. Because the aim is to survive while facing several enemies, this perk is much more beneficial than dealing extra damage.
Focus on getting gear that makes your parry timing easier and heals you when you parry perfectly. Once you reach Rank 20 as a Samurai, you’ll be able to use any weapon, letting you reliably block attacks and quickly strike back with a powerful counterattack. With the right equipment, you can keep your health topped off while constantly attacking your enemies.
While Samurai aren’t typically known for using ranged weapons like bows or guns, “Blind Bombs” are very effective. They help you manage groups of enemies and give you space when you’re in a tough spot.
When playing through Story mode, particularly on harder levels, you can try a more aggressive strategy with the flaming ability. Keep in mind that healing is scarcer and you won’t have Onryo Tokens, making this a riskier approach that could lead to failing the mission if you’re not careful.
