In Crimson Desert, players can pole vault, though it’s a feature many might miss without completing a specific challenge. To pole vault, just double-tap the jump button while equipped with a banner pike. This challenge, called Rainbow Across the Sky, requires players to perform a few pole vaults to complete it.
How to Use Banner Pikes in Crimson Desert
You can perform a special pole vault move with a banner pike by quickly pressing the Jump button twice. This works even if you’re standing still, offering a simple way to clear gaps or obstacles like spiked walls without needing to use Axiom Force.
First, you’ll need to locate a banner pike. You can find many in larger towns like Hernand, or at big bandit camps – including the one where you fight the Crimson Nightmare boss. If you’re in a safe town, you’ll have to steal a pike by wearing a Mask and targeting the one you want. Alternatively, you can simply take any banner pike from the camp of a hostile group, such as the Bleed Bandits or Black Bears.
You can use banner pikes to attack, but they wear down quickly and will break if you fight with them too much. Luckily, using them to pole jump doesn’t damage them at all, so you can jump as much as you like!
Rainbow Across the Sky Artifact Location
The Sealed Abyss Artifact, which holds the pole jump challenge, is located in Duskwood. Look for it in the forest west of Fort Warspike, in the western Hernandian mountains. If you’re having trouble spotting it, try getting to higher ground and using Blinding Flash, or simply using your lantern to help you see.
To finish this challenge, all you need is a banner pike – it fits in your secondary weapon slot alongside two-handed weapons. Open your equipment wheel, select the pike, and then jump repeatedly. Successfully completing it will reward you with one extra Abyss Artifact or skill point, just like other challenges of this type.
After finishing this task, we suggest holding onto the banner pike. It’s a useful way to travel around the map. While jumping over walls with it is enjoyable, you can also rely on the more efficient triple jump with Aerial Force Palm if you prefer a practical approach.
