Nintendo unexpectedly released a playable demo of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on the Nintendo eShop. This gives fans of the series a chance to try out the latest installment and see what it’s all about. The game is known for creating funny and unpredictable situations with your Mii characters, and the demo lets you experience that firsthand.
Coming April 16th, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is the third game in the Tomodachi series and the second to be released outside of Japan. Fans who enjoyed the original Tomodachi Life on the Nintendo 3DS will find a lot to love in this new version, which is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. The game lets you watch and influence the everyday lives of Miis on a private island, and this sequel adds a bunch of new features to make the interactions and relationships even more dynamic and interesting.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream’s Free Demo is Out Now
Even though the full version of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream isn’t out for a few weeks, Nintendo has released a free demo called Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Welcome Version to tide fans over. The demo lets you create a limited number of Mii characters and experiment with their relationships, including friendships and romances. It also gives you a sneak peek at the game’s island world, allowing you to decorate it with buildings and plants before the full game comes out.
What really makes the Tomodachi series different from other life simulation games is how its characters interact – it’s constantly evolving. Players might expect something similar to Animal Crossing with Mii characters, but Living the Dream takes a different approach. Instead of being the main character, you watch and influence the lives of the Miis in the world you create. It’s almost like a ‘god game’ for social interactions – you shape each Mii’s personality, give them unique quirks and catchphrases as they grow, and even guide them through major life choices.
Even players who enjoyed the original Tomodachi Life from 2014 will find plenty of new things to discover in the next installment. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream offers significantly more ways to customize the game. You’ll have more design tools for creating Miis, including stamps and the ability to draw facial features freely. You can even create Miis that aren’t human! Plus, while the first game let you decorate inside your Miis’ homes, Living the Dream lets you customize the entire island. You’ll be able to add shops and other quick-build features, and even change the island’s landscape itself.
Don’t worry about starting your game in the demo! Any progress you make – your Miis, island, and relationships – will carry over to the full version of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream when it launches. Even if you prefer to experience the game fresh, it’s worth trying the demo to earn a special hamster costume for your Miis that you can use in the full game. The demo is a great way to get familiar with the game’s features and get a little bonus!
