As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that I’ve seen my fair share of ranking systems in competitive games. However, CS2’s intricate and immersive ranking system has left me genuinely impressed. With 18 ranks to conquer, it’s a true testament to the dedication and skill required to reach the coveted Global Elite status.
It is no secret that CS2 (Counter-Strike 2) is one of the biggest esports out there. Even after its predecessor, CS:GO, handed the game the torch, Counter-Strike has continued to thrive. But do you know of all the ranks in CS2 competitive?
Here are all the CS2 ranks.
CS2 Ranks
In contrast to numerous other games, the rankings in CS2 follow a more intricate system. The game’s shooter mode is careful about doling out ranks to players due to their significance. With 18 ranks in total, the ranking system in CS2 stands out for its depth and impact.
All CS2 Ranks:

- Gold Nova 2
- Gold Nova 3
- Gold Nova Master
- Master Guardian 1

In the Premiere mode, instead of playing with a predefined set of maps like in the regular CS2 ranked play, players are asked to select and vote on maps they wish to ban before starting the competition. After successfully completing ten matches in Premiere mode, you will receive a rating that operates slightly differently compared to the system used in the game’s standard ranked mode.
Here are all Premiere mode ranks in CS2 compared to the game’s traditional ranks:
- 1,000 – 7,501 (Gray): Equivalent to Silver Elite Master
- 7,502 – 11,831 (Light Blue): Equivalent to Gold Nova 1 to Gold Nova Master
- 11,832 – 14,998 (Dark Blue): Equivalent to Master Guardian to Master Guardian Elite
- 14,999 – 18,401 (Light Purple): Equivalent to Distinguished Master Guardian to Legendary Eagle Master
- 18,402 – 19,999 (Purple): Equivalent to Supreme Master First Class
- 20,000+ (Dark Purple): Equivalent to the Global Elite
In the Premier mode of Counter-Strike, the emphasis is more on earning points rather than traditional ranks. Regardless, it’s essential for players to aim for the Dark Purple level as it corresponds to the Global Elite rank in the standard ranking structure of the game.
To progress up the ranks, consistently winning games is key, but take note that the competition becomes increasingly tougher as you advance since CS2 boasts a more refined and challenging competitive foundation compared to many other games.
