A new cooperative game called Minimo has been released on Steam. Developed by indie studio Low Drag Labs, Minimo is described as an unpredictable roguelike adventure where up to 200 players can join forces to complete a randomly generated quest.
I’m really excited about Minimo, it’s the first game coming from a new studio called Low Drag Labs! What’s cool is that the people behind it aren’t exactly newcomers – they’ve worked on some big titles before. The studio was founded by Jon Selin and Mike Hines. I did a little digging and found out Jon’s a Swedish developer who used to be a Design Director at CCP Games and even VP of Design at Pocket Gems. And Mike? He’s got experience at Epic, Oculus, and Perpetual! Definitely keeping an eye on this one.
Minimo Is an Upcoming 200 Player Co-Op Roguelike
Each game of Minimo takes about 30 minutes. During that time, you’ll join forces with up to 200 other players to explore a huge map, find equipment, complete puzzles, and battle enemies – including powerful bosses that require teamwork to defeat. As you play, you can improve your character with upgrades focused on fighting, surviving, or creating things. Successfully completing challenges unlocks new areas with even harder obstacles and better rewards. What makes Minimo unique is that the game map is different every time you play, offering a fresh experience with new challenges each match.

In Minimo, lobbies can hold up to 200 players, and you can join matches solo, with a small team, or as part of larger guild groups. As you play, you’ll unlock 50 different character classes, each with its own special skills and way to play – like the long-range Hunter, the magic-using Pyromancer, and the close-combat Guard. Successfully completing matches also rewards you with cosmetic items like outfits and pets to personalize your character.

Okay, so there’s no firm release date for Minimo yet, but I’m super excited because they’re doing a public playtest in April! If you want to jump in, you just need to go to the Minimo Steam page. You’ll find links there to their website and Discord server, and you can sign up to get an invite to the playtest next month. They haven’t said exactly what we’ll be able to play in this first test, but they’ve promised it’ll let us help them shape how the game turns out, which is awesome!
