Dragon Ball: 6 Transformations That Rival Super Saiyan Blue

Just as Super Saiyan became iconic in Dragon Ball Z, Super Saiyan Blue is largely the defining form of Dragon Ball Super. Goku and Vegeta use Super Saiyan Blue more frequently than their other powerful forms like Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego. From the Resurrection F arc onward, this transformation has been a constant presence, and it’s become even more potent with the development of Mastered Super Saiyan Blue and Super Saiyan Blue Evolved.

While Super Saiyan Blue is a powerful form, it’s no longer among the strongest in Dragon Ball Super. Transformations like Ultra Ego, Gohan Beast, Black Frieza, and Ultra Instinct clearly surpass it. Other divine forms and powerful transformations are now at a similar level to Super Saiyan Blue.

Golden Frieza

Users: Frieza

After just four months of training, Frieza surpassed even Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta, going from being weaker than the original Super Saiyan Goku on Namek. His Golden Frieza transformation is incredibly powerful, exceeding the power of even godly forms. However, Frieza didn’t train his endurance with this new form, so he tires quickly when fighting Super Saiyan Blue Goku.

Frieza trains intensely in Hell, becoming powerful enough to fight on par with Goku and Vegeta in their Super Saiyan Blue forms by the time the Tournament of Power begins. While he’s still weaker than those who’ve mastered Ultra Instinct or evolved their Super Saiyan Blue, Golden Frieza proves to be a key player for Universe 7, assisting Goku in their battle against Jiren and ultimately helping Android 17 win the tournament.

Super Saiyan Rosé

Users: Goku Black

Goku Black’s power comes from a blend of divine energy, Kai energy, and his Saiyan heritage. Because of this unique combination, he transforms into Super Saiyan Rosé instead of the usual Super Saiyan Blue. Being a future version of Goku, he’s also slightly more powerful than Goku and Vegeta in the present timeline.

In Dragon Ball Super, Goku Black, in his Super Saiyan Rosé form, is demonstrably more powerful than Vegeta in his Super Saiyan Blue form, defeating him without much difficulty. This is largely due to Goku Black possessing a naturally higher power level than both Goku and Vegeta, making Super Saiyan Rosé an incredibly potent transformation for him.

Super Saiyan Rage

Users: Future Trunks

Future Trunks is an incredibly powerful and intelligent Saiyan in the world of Dragon Ball. He achieves a remarkable level of strength – by becoming proficient in the Super Saiyan 2 form, similar to how Goku and Gohan mastered Super Saiyan 1, he surpasses even Super Saiyan 3 Goku, considering he was initially weaker than Perfect Cell. As Dragon Ball Super progresses, Trunks continues to grow even more powerful.

Future Trunks trained with Vegeta to prepare for his fight against Zamasu and Goku Black. During the battle, he unexpectedly gained access to his father’s divine energy, which unlocked a powerful new form called Super Saiyan Rage. This form combined the power of Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan Blue, allowing Trunks to split Fused Zamasu in half – something even Goku and Vegeta, using their Super Saiyan Blue form, couldn’t accomplish.

Destroyer Form

Users: Toppo

Toppo is a potential God of Destruction and the second strongest fighter in Universe 11, after Jiren. During the Tournament of Power, he transformed into his Destroyer Form while battling Vegeta, immediately becoming much stronger and almost defeating him. In this form, Toppo can easily use the Hakai technique, making him one of the most formidable fighters in the tournament.

Toppo was defeated only because Vegeta achieved a more powerful form called Super Saiyan Blue Evolved. This new level allowed Vegeta to overpower Toppo and defeat him with a Final Explosion, even withstanding the attack himself. Without either Goku unlocking Ultra Instinct or Vegeta evolving his Super Saiyan Blue, Toppo’s Destroyer form would have likely been strong enough to defeat them both.

Legendary Super Saiyan

Users: Broly, Kale

Broly, in his Legendary Super Saiyan form, is stronger than almost all Super Saiyan Blues we see in the series. The only Super Saiyan Blue who can defeat him is Gogeta Blue, which is shown in the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly. This is remarkable because Gogeta is the result of Goku and Vegeta fusing together.

During the Tournament of Power, Legendary Super Saiyan Kale proved to be more powerful than even Super Saiyan Blue. She quickly defeated multiple opponents (in the manga) and nearly overpowered Goku while he was in his Super Saiyan Blue form. Overall, Legendary Super Saiyan is the strongest Super Saiyan transformation seen in the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga, particularly when Broly accesses it.

Super Saiyan 4 (GT Version)

Users: Goku, Vegeta, Gogeta

In the Dragon Ball Heroes arcade game, the Super Saiyan 4 transformation from Dragon Ball GT is considered just as powerful as Super Saiyan Blue. When Goku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball GT fight their Dragon Ball Super counterparts in the game, Super Saiyan 4 is consistently shown to be about equal in strength to Super Saiyan Blue.

Super Saiyan 4 fusions are incredibly powerful, even managing to defeat some of the toughest villains in Super Dragon Ball Heroes. For example, Super Saiyan 4 Xeno Vegito seriously wounded Mechikabura, an immortal enemy, creating an opening for Super Saiyan God Xeno Future Trunks and Chronoa to trap him. While Super Saiyan 4 might not be as strong as Goku and Vegeta’s most powerful God forms, spin-off series consistently show that it’s at least as strong as Super Saiyan Blue.
