Getting a decent bow early in Crimson Desert can be surprisingly difficult. Many of the bows you find won’t be much of an upgrade from the one Kliff begins the game with. While exploring is the key to finding better equipment in Crimson Desert, you could end up searching every nook and cranny. To save you time, here are three locations on the map where you’re likely to find a better ranged weapon.
Bow Crafting Manual – Spire of Insight
Southeast of Hernand, you’ll discover the Spire of Insight – a large tower containing useful items. On the first floor, you can find a crafting guide for ranged weapons on a bookshelf. To get inside the Spire of Insight in Crimson Desert, you’ll need to burn away the thorny bushes blocking the entrance using Blinding Flash or any fire attack. Once you reach the door, grab a pebble and place it in the basin to open it.
This guide will teach you how to make new bows at any blacksmith. Once you’ve learned the recipes, just gather the necessary materials and craft the bow you like best!
Kliff’s initial bow is surprisingly effective after you upgrade it. To really maximize its potential, you’ll need to unlock slots for Abyss Gears and then find those Gears to equip.
Gold-Knotted Ancestral Bow – Silver Wolf Mountain
| Attack | 19 |
|---|---|
| Critical Rate | 1 |
| Refinement | 3 |
| Abyss Gear | Life Transference Destruction II Insight I |
The bow is located in a hidden dungeon within Silver Wolf Mountain, far north of Hernand. Use the lines in the image to find the exact spot, then look for a hatch in the ground. Lower yourself into the hatch, and you’ll enter a dangerous, trap-filled dungeon. Continue deeper, carefully navigating past the sawblades and swinging traps in the main chamber. The bow is at the very end, inside a sealed room.
The Gold-Knotted Ancient Bow is considered top-tier in Crimson Desert largely because of its Life Transference Abyss Gear, which effectively grants you health recovery with each attack. This feature alone makes the bow valuable, even if you don’t typically play ranged characters. Life Transference helps keep you alive during fights, particularly in large-scale battles where you’re likely to take damage.
Noble Man’s Bow – Pailune
| Attack | 18 |
|---|---|
| Critical Rate | 1 |
| Refinement | 3 |
| Abyss Gear | Life Transference Destruction II Insight I |
Shortly after passing through the north gate of Pailune, you’ll find Valgrind Tomb – a small location that serves as a burial site. Go inside, and then look for a small opening in the wall on your right. Crouch down to enter, and you’ll discover a chest holding the Noble Man’s Bow.
In terms of stats, this bow is very similar to the Gold-Knotted Ancestral Bow. However, it has an added benefit: it includes the Malicebane Abyss Gear, which gives it a slight damage boost against powerful enemies like bosses. You can obtain this gear from a witch and then attach it to another weapon if you choose.
During our game, we started exploring Pailune around Chapter 7 of the main storyline. If you happen to arrive there earlier, don’t worry!
the story, you may run into tons of strong enemies patrolling the roads.
