Obsidian Entertainment has released Update 2.1 for Avowed, which includes additional bug fixes, improvements, and a popular feature requested by players. Avowed has recently gained renewed attention following its first anniversary in February 2026. Obsidian shared several exciting announcements with fans and welcomed new players to explore the Living Lands.
Originally released on Xbox and PC on February 18, 2025, the RPG Avowed recently marked its first anniversary with a major update. This patch included numerous bug fixes and improvements players had been asking for, such as new playable classes, the Quarterstaff weapon, a dedicated Photo Mode, and the option to customize a character’s appearance during a game. Players who finish the game can now also enjoy a New Game Plus mode, letting them restart with their existing progress and abilities. Following the 2.0 update, Obsidian has just released another significant patch for players to download.
Update 2.1 is a smaller patch compared to the large update released in February. Like with the 2.0 update for Avowed, the developers at Obsidian listened to player feedback. The previous update added enemies that could respawn in certain areas, letting players repeatedly fight them. Some players didn’t like that they couldn’t completely stop this from happening, so this update includes new options in the Combat settings. These options allow players to disable enemy respawns in those areas.
The update also includes many fixes for various bugs and problems players have been experiencing. Photo Mode has been improved with fixes for issues like a broken ‘Browse Photos’ button and crashes near Xaurip Elders. Console players on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will also notice clearer color filters, as a graininess issue has been resolved.

This update includes several specific bug fixes. For example, companions will now look at the Envoy during conversations when traveling between regions, and players should no longer get stuck leaning to the side while playing in third-person view. Obsidian also resolved an issue where some owners of the Avowed Premium Edition were missing the Yatzli’s Obsidian Collection outfit.
Alongside its one-year anniversary, the game Avowed became available on PlayStation 5, bringing it to a wider audience. Although the launch and a major update revitalized the game, some PS5 players expressed disappointment with the improvements, particularly those for the PlayStation 5 Pro. Experts at Digital Foundry observed that the Pro version of Avowed didn’t offer significant enhancements beyond a slightly more stable resolution. Given that other games effectively utilize the Pro’s advanced capabilities and features like PSSR, many expected more from Avowed, especially considering that other former Xbox exclusives, such as Forza Horizon 5, included unique features specifically for the PS5 Pro.
