Towers of Aghasba gets Developer Spotlight with Ghibli veteran

As a devoted fan of animated masterpieces, I am absolutely thrilled about the impending arrival of Towers of Aghasba! The recent developer spotlight featuring Yoichi Nishikawa, the renowned artist behind Studio Ghibli’s gems like The Boy and the Heron and Howl’s Moving Castle, has only fueled my anticipation.

In just two weeks, we’ll be diving into the enchanting world of Towers of Aghasba! A fresh developer spotlight video featuring Studio Ghibli artist, Yoichi Nishikawa, has been unveiled. This open-world fantasy is teeming with intricately designed creatures and characters, as well as hand-painted backdrops that breathe life into the world, and much of this magic can be attributed to Nishikawa’s artistic talents.

For several decades, the Shimu people were compelled to abandon their native land following an invasion by a baffling force called the Withered. Now, they are making their way back home to reclaim what rightfully belongs to them – the enchanting island of AGHASBA. In your role as a junior architect, you’ll be responsible for restoring and reconstructing the villages of the once-powerful Shimu civilization, while simultaneously revitalizing the ecosystems that once flourished on Aghasba.

Yoichi Nishikawa, known for contributing to more than 30 films and animated series such as “The Boy and the Heron” and “Howl’s Moving Castle”, was interviewed by Dreamlit Games regarding his involvement with “Towers of Aghasba”. Initially, he had some reservations about how his work would translate to this project. However, he was ultimately impressed with the way his anime-inspired backgrounds were seamlessly integrated into the 3D game environment.

Beyond the interview (available for viewing below), the pre-order incentives have been revealed for those who acquire Towers of Aghasba prior to its launch during Early Access. These perks are also applicable to individuals who buy it within the initial month after its release. The unique content encompasses:

  • Custom Harelope Mount Design | Ride across the lands of Aghasba in style with a unique design for your majestic harelope mount
  • 5 Unique Decorations
  • 3 Exclusive Masks

On November 19th, I’ll be immersing myself in a mesmerizing world, available on Steam and PlayStation 5 for just £29.99. Here’s an exclusive interview I had the pleasure of conducting with artist Yoichi Nishikawa:
