Dragon Ball: The Strongest Characters Killed By Frieza, Ranked

Frieza is known as one of the most ruthless characters in Dragon Ball, and likely has the highest number of kills outside of the Gods of Destruction. When Frieza is actively destroying planets and entire species for his own gain, it actually reduces the amount of work Beerus, a God of Destruction, needs to do in Universe 7.

Throughout the Dragon Ball series, Frieza has defeated many of its most powerful characters. Currently, in Dragon Ball Super, his ‘Black Frieza’ form is the strongest being in the entire multiverse, putting the Z-Fighters in significant danger when the Dragon Ball Super manga continues with the new Black Frieza arc.

8. Paragus Never Stood a Chance Once Frieza Realized He Could Turn Broly Super Saiyan

In Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Paragus had a power level of 4,200, making him an incredibly strong Saiyan before Planet Vegeta was destroyed. After his son, Broly, was exiled to Planet Vampa, Paragus went after him and they both crashed on the planet, leaving Paragus stranded. Years later, Frieza’s forces discovered Paragus and Broly and brought them into their army.

It’s crazy how Frieza thinks during the fight with Broly, Goku, and Vegeta! He quickly figures out Broly’s reached his limit, and then comes up with this awful plan. He deliberately kills Paragus, then pretends it was just an accident, a stray energy blast. It totally works, though – it enrages Broly and forces him to transform into a Super Saiyan, all thanks to Frieza’s manipulation. It’s a really messed up moment!

7. Bardock, King Vegeta, & The Rest of the Saiyans Were Nothing to Frieza

Before Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta, almost all Saiyans had a Power Level under 10,000, with Vegeta and Broly being rare exceptions. However, Saiyans possess a unique ability called the Zenkai Boost, which allows them to become dramatically stronger each time they recover from near-fatal injuries. Frieza was also worried about an old Saiyan legend – the Super Saiyan transformation.

Frieza didn’t just want to eliminate the Saiyans; he was afraid of their potential. Instead of killing them himself, he destroyed their home planet, Vegeta. He then covered up the destruction by claiming a meteor was responsible – a story Vegeta initially believed until Dodoria revealed the truth in Dragon Ball Z. The anime shows Frieza personally killing King Vegeta before obliterating Planet Vegeta.

6. Dende, Guru, and the Namekians Didn’t Deserve Frieza’s Violence

Frieza’s first appearance is marked by a remarkably high number of deaths. The Dragon Ball manga initially shows him killing a Namekian child named Cargo. He then directly kills Dende in their final confrontation and causes the extreme stress that leads to Guru’s death. Although Guru doesn’t kill Nail outright, he severely wounds him, leaving him on the brink of death until Piccolo merges with him.

Frieza, through his army, is responsible for the deaths of all the Namekians on Planet Namek except those Vegeta killed himself. Despite the Namekians being a strong people, none of their warriors were powerful enough to defeat Frieza’s forces. Even Nail, one of their strongest fighters with a power level of 42,000, wasn’t a match for them.

5. Elec Was One of Frieza’s Easiest Kills

Though Elec leads the Heeters, he’s actually their weakest fighter. He relies on his confidence and mostly lets his brother Gas do all the battling. Throughout much of the Granolah the Survivor Saga, Elec pulls the strings from behind the scenes – until Frieza shows up and changes everything.

Frieza quickly realizes Elec is the weakest of the Heeters and defeats him with a single energy blast. While the Heeters are a strong group, meaning Elec is more powerful than many typical aliens, Namekians, and Saiyans, he’s easily outmatched by the main characters in Dragon Ball Super.

4. Krillin Still Has PTSD From Being Killed By Frieza

Even though Krillin is incredibly powerful, he still struggles with the emotional trauma of being killed by Frieza in Dragon Ball Super. The anime version of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F shows that Krillin has PTSD from his death on Namek and needs to overcome his fear before fighting Frieza’s forces when they arrive on Earth.

As a huge Dragon Ball Super fan, I thought it was really cool how they built up to the Tournament of Power! There was this one episode beforehand where Goku and Krillin had to face off against illusions of their old enemies, and it was a surprisingly deep moment for Krillin. It really made him deal with the trauma of nearly being killed by Frieza. It’s amazing when you think about it – Frieza doesn’t even consider humans a threat, but Krillin was strong enough that he was one of the most powerful people Frieza ever took out!

3. Piccolo Was Killed Protecting Gohan in the Dragon Ball Super Anime

As a huge Dragon Ball fan, I was really intrigued by how the Dragon Ball Super anime adapted the Resurrection F movie! The movie was great, and thankfully no one died – Goku and Vegeta showed up just in the nick of time to take on Frieza. But the anime adds a really tense moment where Frieza almost takes out Gohan! It was awesome seeing Piccolo jump in and shield Gohan from that deadly beam – a total last-second save!

Frieza instantly kills Piccolo, leaving Gohan devastated and unable to continue the fight. While Piccolo is later brought back to life – a move that feels like a simple nod to earlier storylines – it doesn’t diminish the impact of Frieza easily defeating one of the Z-Fighters with a single attack.

2. Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta Took Too Long to Beat Frieza & Humanity Paid the Price

Vegeta, in his Super Saiyan Blue form, could have finished off Golden Frieza at the end of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F, but he chose to prolong the fight. While Vegeta hesitated, Frieza took advantage of the situation and nearly destroyed Earth, killing many of the Z-Fighters, including Vegeta himself.

Thanks to Whis, only a handful of characters are left alive. Frieza had nearly wiped out Earth and most of the Z-Fighters. Fortunately, Whis turned back time to just before Frieza destroyed Vegeta and the planet, giving Goku a chance to defeat Frieza with a Kamehameha.

1. Awakened Gas is the Strongest Character Anyone in Dragon Ball Has Killed, Not Just Frieza

Awakened Gas is likely the most powerful character ever defeated in the entire Dragon Ball series, not just by Frieza. Using the Cerealian Dragon Balls, Elec transformed Gas into an incredibly strong warrior who continuously grew in power, instantly aging him up whenever another fighter exceeded his strength.

When Elec made his wish, Frieza wasn’t present in Universe 7, leaving Gas vulnerable when Frieza finally appeared. Frieza instantly defeated Awakened Gas, turning him to dust. This is significant because Gas was a powerful enemy that even Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta had trouble fighting, proving Frieza is far stronger than both of them.
