Capcom has released an update for the popular game, Resident Evil Requiem, addressing several problems on all systems and adding a much-requested feature. Resident Evil Requiem has quickly become a major success for Capcom, especially as the entire Resident Evil series celebrates its 30th anniversary. Despite the game’s success, Capcom is continuing to improve and polish the gameplay experience.
Even before its release, Resident Evil Requiem looked promising, especially because of its ties to RE: Outbreak. But excitement really exploded when Capcom officially announced Leon Kennedy as a second playable character. The game had a fantastic launch on Steam and quickly broke sales records for the entire Resident Evil franchise. In just 17 days, Requiem sold over 6 million copies, making it the fastest game in the series to reach that milestone. With more content planned for the future, sales are expected to keep climbing.
Capcom is still refining Resident Evil Requiem with regular updates. The most recent patch, released on March 27, 2026, focuses on improving the overall experience. While the patch notes don’t detail every change, Capcom says they’ve fixed visual glitches, general gameplay issues, crashes, and typos. They also tweaked some character animations in cutscenes to make emotions clearer. A popular glitch involving unlimited ammo with the Requiem pistol has also been resolved.
The biggest addition in this update for Resident Evil Requiem is a full-fledged Photo Mode! You can find it in the pause menu, and while details are limited, a recent post shows you’ll be able to adjust camera angles, character poses and expressions, and even add items and themed frames to your photos. Players are already having fun with it, sharing creative and funny screenshots on platforms like the Resident Evil subreddit.
Players enjoy features like Photo Mode, but they’re really waiting to see what major new content is coming. There’s been a lot of demand for a dedicated Mercenaries Mode, and Capcom’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, has confirmed that more downloadable content is planned for Resident Evil Requiem. Many unresolved story elements suggest that this content might be a story expansion designed to finish those plotlines and answer lingering questions.

Despite generally positive feelings about the game, Capcom recently faced criticism after showcasing Resident Evil Requiem as part of Nvidia’s DLSS 5 demonstration. Many viewers reacted negatively, comparing the visual effect to a simple Instagram filter. Capcom then clarified that while they won’t use AI to create content for their games, they will explore using it to streamline their development process. This announcement came during a question-and-answer session with investors, and it’s unclear if the question was directly prompted by the negative reaction to the DLSS 5 demo.
