In Borderlands 4‘s first story pack, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, the infamous Crazy Earl is back! But this time, he’s gone a little crazier – now called Crazed Earl, he’s hunting Vault Hunters instead of Eridium. Players will need to defeat him for good.
Okay, so I just found out you can farm Crazed Earl at Daphne’s Homestead! And get this – you can actually earn three Legendary items from him: Scoot’n’Shoot, Barb’ara, and even another Crazed Earl, which is a super rare Pearlescent weapon! I’m going to check him out right away, and I’ll share everything you need to know about the fight and the loot he drops down below.
Crazed Earl Location & How to Beat in Borderlands 4
- Crazed Earl can be farmed from Daphne’s Homestead in the northern area of the map.
- From Daphne’s Homestead, head to the right to find a cave that contains Crazed Earl.
- Crazed Earl’s phases act as a ground Thresher (first phase) and a flying Thresher (second phase).
- Crazed Earl has two phases, but he will always have Health (red), so Incendiary is the damage type to use.
All Crazed Earl Loot Drops in Borderlands 4
| Legendary Item | Type | Special Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Crazed Earl | Pearlescent Ripper Shotgun | BOGO – Fires Shards that stick into enemies. Meleeing enemies with Shards will explode the Shards and send them toward other nearby enemies. |
| Barb’ara | Legendary Grenade Ordnance | Tentacles (unknown). |
| Scoot’n’Shoot | Legendary Torgue Pistol | Rollin’ Deep – Phantom Guns fire from the location of your previous shots. Phantom Guns reset on reload. |
Crazed Earl has three potential weapon drops: two Legendary and one Pearlescent. While Pearlescent weapons are very rare and sought after, it’s debatable whether the effort to get them is worthwhile. Crazed Earl’s weapon itself isn’t very practical – it forces you to take big risks just to attack enemies – so many players might choose to skip trying to get it.
Barb’ara and Scoot’n’Shoot are decent Legendary items, and worth getting if you’re a collector. However, we consistently prefer certain Pistols and Ordnance and recommend sticking with those instead.
