Crimson Desert is full of challenging puzzles. Some are cleverly hidden, but others have solutions that are surprisingly obvious. The Forgotten Altar is one of the easier puzzles to solve once you find it, though locating it can still be a bit difficult.

In Crimson Desert, the Forgotten Altar is a key puzzle, largely because it’s located on the route to the game’s final boss. Unlike many other Abyss puzzles, it appears this one is required to progress.

Forgotten Altar Location

You can find the Forgotten Altar puzzle in the Abyss area of the Crimson Desert sky map. While there are several ways to get there, the simplest method is to first solve the Disconnected Truth puzzle and then use the teleporter that appears to travel to the Forgotten Altar.

You’ll usually find the Forgotten Altar towards the end of the game – I didn’t reach it until I was almost ready to fight the final boss. But everyone plays differently, so you might stumble upon it sooner.

Forgotten Altar Puzzle Solution

As soon as you arrive at the Forgotten Altar in Crimson Desert, you’ll see a tornado right in the middle. Stay far away from it! Getting too close means certain death – it will pull you in and you won’t survive.

To stop the tornado, you need to pick up the large orb on the ground using Axiom Force and place it into the nearby cylinder slot.

When you put the orb in place, the winds around the outside of the Forgotten Altar will start to blow. You can ride these winds upwards to reach the top of the altar, which will lift you above the tornado.

Then, head to the platform directly over the tornado and use Nature’s Snare to halt the spinning mechanism. If you haven’t unlocked Nature’s Snare yet, you can find it on the bottom left of your skill tree.

Once you use Nature’s Snare on the machine, it will stop working and the tornado will vanish completely. This will uncover a large, cube-shaped structure in the middle of the Forgotten Altar. Your goal is to enter the cube and use Force Palm on the central cog.

To enter the cube, climb onto one of the grated doors and use Force Palm to open it. While using Force Palm, hold the Resist button to stay grounded and avoid being launched away.

Once you enter the cube and break the central gear using Force Palm, you’ll successfully restore power to the Abyss. Then, simply retrieve the Abyss Artifact that’s now available, and you’ll finish the Forgotten Altar puzzle in Crimson Desert.
