Escape From Tarkov recently got a big update with improvements to quests and other changes that make the game a little more forgiving. Developed by Battlestate Games, Escape From Tarkov is a realistic, first-person shooter where you try to survive and escape the fictional Russian city of Norvinsk. Players are thrown into a conflict between two private military groups, UESC and Bear, and must fight both enemy players and AI-controlled enemies to make it out alive.
Since it first launched, Escape From Tarkov has become a very popular extraction shooter. The full version of the game was released in November 2025, with many improvements and new features. However, the launch wasn’t perfect, and the game received a lot of negative reviews right away. The developers at Battlestate have been listening to player feedback and releasing updates to fix problems, like making it faster to find matches in Escape From Tarkov. Now, they’re working on another update to address even more concerns players have raised.
New Escape From Tarkov Update Brings Improvements
Battlestate Games has released update 1.0.4.0 for Escape From Tarkov, and it’s available for download now. This update focuses on improving the player experience with faster loading times for raids and menus, and streamlining progression. Specifically, it takes 40% fewer Hideout crafts to advance the story, and operational tasks are easier to complete and reward more XP. The update also includes various technical improvements and optimizations.
The developer has updated several quests, like Claustrophobia and No Swiping, by increasing the area where players can complete the objectives, making them simpler and less frustrating. Players who bought Edge of Darkness and then upgraded to the Unheard Edition will receive exclusive customization options. This update, Patch 1.0.4.0, follows the development plan Battlestate revealed in February 2026, which promised technical improvements, balance adjustments, and overall quality-of-life enhancements.
The game is getting even more updates! Following the recent patch, Battlestate plans another major update (Patch 1.0.5.0) in the second quarter of 2026, which will add new content like an in-game event, a boss enemy, and more ways to customize your character. They’ve also promised further updates later in the year, though details are still to come. Players on Reddit and Twitter have generally praised the latest Escape From Tarkov patch, particularly enjoying new features like distinct sounds when reloading or discarding magazines, and improved healing with certain kits. The community is also eager for news about the console version of Escape From Tarkov.
Battlestate Games first announced a console version of their shooter game back in October 2025, but didn’t say which consoles it would be on. Many people guessed it would come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Since then, the developers haven’t shared any updates, leaving players eager for information about the release and features of the console version. The situation is further complicated by the fact that Battlestate is also developing a new game, making some wonder if they have enough resources to fully focus on bringing Escape From Tarkov to consoles. For now, fans will have to wait to see what the studio decides.
