As winter wraps up, anime fans are getting excited about the spring 2026 season. It promises a mix of brand new shows, adaptations of popular stories, and returning favorites – plenty to look forward to!
With over 50 new anime coming out this season, it’s hard to know where to start! As spring approaches, I’ve been looking at some of the shows everyone’s talking about – here are a few you definitely shouldn’t miss.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4
- April 3
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is a long-running series that continues to be popular. First released in 2018, it quickly became one of the best ‘isekai’ (another world) anime of the last ten years, standing out in a genre with many successes and failures.
I’m really looking forward to Season 4 – it’s going to be huge! It’s planned as five parts, beginning with two episodes released back-to-back. From what I understand, the Jura-Tempest Federation will be pushing forward with their goal of humans and monsters living together peacefully, but there are definitely some hidden enemies working against them.
Witch Hat Atelier

Witch Hat Atelier is shaping up to be a standout anime of the spring 2026 season. Based on the acclaimed manga by Kamome Shirahama, the series is being produced by Bug Films, the studio behind the popular anime Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. Given the success of Zom 100, fans are anticipating great things from Witch Hat Atelier.
I’m totally hooked on this series! It’s about a girl named Coco who’s fascinated by magic and witches. One day, she finds out her favorite storybook is actually a spellbook, and things get a little crazy – she accidentally turns her mom into stone! Now, she’s on this amazing journey to learn magic and figure out how to change things back. It’s a really fun adventure!
Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke

Anime viewers should definitely check out Ascendance of a Bookworm this season. The fourth season, titled Adopted Daughter of an Archduke, appears to be one of the best new anime this spring.
The fourth season of Ascendance of a Bookworm is being animated by Wit Studio, a well-known animation house responsible for popular series like Vinland Saga, Attack on Titan, Spy x Family, and the new One Piece anime. With such a talented studio involved, many are predicting it could be one of the most popular shows of the spring 2026 season.
Daemons of the Shadow Realm

You may not be familiar with Daemons of the Shadow Realm, but you probably know its creator, Hiromu Arakawa. Arakawa is a highly successful manga artist, best known for creating the popular series Fullmetal Alchemist.
Despite being another fantastic series by Arakawa, Daemons of the Shadow Realm hasn’t received the attention it deserves, much like Silver Spoon and The Heroic Legend of Arslan. It’s often overshadowed by the popularity of Fullmetal Alchemist (FMA). However, with the animation studio Bones handling the adaptation, fans are optimistic that they can recreate the success of the 2003 and 2009 FMA anime and give Daemons of the Shadow Realm the high-quality adaptation it deserves.
Akane-banashi

Akane-banashi is shaping up to be a standout anime this season, mainly because of where you’ll be able to watch it. Instead of platforms like Crunchyroll or Netflix, it will stream for free on YouTube in North America, which is fantastic news for anime fans.
The manga Akane-banashi started appearing in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2022 and quickly became a popular title. While it didn’t initially gain as much attention as series like My Hero and Jujutsu Kaisen during their time in the magazine, the new anime adaptation by Zexcs has the potential to significantly broaden its audience and increase its popularity.
Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4

This season has several great Isekai anime to choose from, and Re:Zero is one of the most popular. The Re:Zero anime originally came out in 2016 and has become a classic of the isekai genre. It offered a unique spin on the genre when it first appeared, and it remains fresh and interesting even now.
Season 4 picks up immediately after the last events of Season 3, putting Subaru and his friends in a difficult spot. After a dramatic ending to Season 3, viewers are eager to see what happens next. The season will be released in two parts: the first part will have 11 episodes, and the second part, with 8 episodes, is scheduled to air in August.
One Piece Elbaf Arc

I’m SO excited! It feels like forever, but the One Piece anime is coming back after a three-month break, and with a new season! We finally finished adapting the Egghead arc, which means they’re starting the Elbaf arc – I’ve been waiting for this! I know the anime has had its ups and downs with consistency in the past, but honestly, the recent episodes have been incredible – the animation is gorgeous, and they’ve really been working to improve the pacing, which was a common complaint before. I’m really hopeful for how they’ll handle Elbaf!
Fans are really looking forward to the upcoming Elbaf arc, which is planned as a focused, seasonal story. After the high quality of the Wano and Egghead arcs, viewers hope that level of animation and storytelling continues. Many believe Elbaf is on track to be one of the series’ best. Over the next few years, the One Piece anime promises plenty of incredible scenes as Luffy and his crew face their biggest challenges yet, and it all begins with this season.
