A LEGO enthusiast is taking on the ambitious project of building a different Pokémon each month, and the results are fantastic. Although LEGO and The Pokémon Company are officially collaborating on LEGO Pokémon sets scheduled for release in 2026, many fans are already expressing their creativity by designing their own custom Pokémon builds.
The Pokemon series has been around for nine generations, and with another game coming soon, there are hundreds of distinct creatures. It’s no surprise that fans love to create art inspired by Pokemon, and building models with LEGO bricks is especially popular. Players enjoy imagining their favorite Pokemon – and even some lesser-known ones – as LEGO creations, often sharing them online. While LEGO and The Pokemon Company are now officially collaborating on sets, there are simply too many Pokemon to include them all. Luckily, dedicated fans are still building their own *Pokemonthemed LEGO designs to bring more creatures to life.
LEGO Fan Designs LEGO Versions of Piplup, Megnemite, Pichu, and Magikarp
A Reddit user named KraftyKoopa1 has taken on a fun challenge: building a custom LEGO Pokémon model each month. They started in early 2026 and have already created four impressive designs. In April, they revealed a LEGO Magikarp, following Piplup (January), Magnemite (February), and Pichu (March). These builds are remarkably detailed and look as good as official LEGO sets. Interestingly, each model uses under 400 LEGO pieces – a bit fewer than the official LEGO Eevee set, according to KraftyKoopa1’s Rebrickable page.
These custom LEGO Pokémon designs are proving popular with fans on Reddit, with a recent Magikarp build receiving over 1,700 upvotes. People are excited to see what KraftyKoopa1 creates next, with Torchic and Totodile already hinted at. Many have also suggested other Pokémon for them to build, including Oshawott. If you’d like to build these designs yourself, instructions are available on Rebrickable.
It’ll be fun to see what other Pokémon creations KraftyKoopa1 comes up with if they continue their design challenge throughout 2026. With so many Pokémon already – over a thousand! – there are endless possibilities. This has inspired a lot of LEGO fans to share their own designs online, especially on Reddit. One user, hachiroku24, even built a LEGO Magnemite that’s the same size as the official LEGO Eevee set.
Fans of both LEGO and Pokémon are now able to build official Pokémon sets, giving creative builders even more options. The first sets feature popular characters like Pikachu and Eevee, as well as the evolved forms of the original Pokémon starters from the Kanto region. There’s also a special Kanto Region Badge Collection and a miniature Pokémon Center. However, some fans have expressed disappointment with the initial designs, feeling they don’t quite live up to expectations and are too expensive.
We can expect even more products related to the franchise to come out in the next few months. Leaks have already given us a sneak peek at new LEGO Pokémon sets, including designs for Munchlax, Arcanine, and Rayquaza, with details on possible prices and how many pieces they’ll contain. While we’ll have to wait for official announcements, these upcoming sets might be more popular with fans.
