Ah, Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency we all loved to hate and secretly hoped would turn into the new digital gold. But alas, it seems like the price is stuck in a prolonged downtrend, though it did show a tiny glimmer of hope this week with a 2% rise. I mean, how generous of it. But let’s be real: this rally is more like a brief nap before the next big crash. Even with that tiny uptick, Bitcoin is still languishing in the dreaded bear market. As of today, it’s in the red and showing no signs of pulling a Houdini. In short, unless some miracle happens, we could be staring at more losses.
Bitcoin Price Crash: ETFs Are Giving Us The Cold Shoulder
Let’s talk ETFs, shall we? These nifty little things were supposed to be Bitcoin’s ticket to the moon, but now they seem to be the ones sending it straight into a black hole. Since their grand debut in 2024, Spot Bitcoin ETFs have been like the new best friend at a party-pumping up Bitcoin’s price with all their daily inflows. But when they start to retreat like a shy guest at the end of the evening? Well, the whole party starts to collapse. And boy, has the retreat been dramatic. Institutional investors are basically ghosting Bitcoin, likely because they’re taking profits, managing risk, or simply losing their patience. Whatever the reason, the lack of demand has definitely taken a toll on the price.
Last week, according to some very meticulous data from SoSoValue, Bitcoin ETFs saw more outflows than inflows. On March 18 and 20, $305 million just up and vanished into thin air. And then, just when we thought things couldn’t get worse, the ETFs decided to throw us a small bone, with a tiny influx of capital. Cute.

But the real disaster struck on March 26 and 27, when withdrawals from Spot Bitcoin ETFs hit a staggering $171.22 million on Thursday, and then just to make sure we didn’t miss the drama, another $225.48 million left the next day. Honestly, it’s like watching someone throw a party and then quietly sneak out the back door with all the snacks. And where did most of these outflows come from? BlackRock’s IBIT, of course. The fund alone saw a jaw-dropping $41.92 million exit on Thursday, followed by an even more breathtaking $201.5 million the next day. Other funds, like Fidelity’s FBTC and Grayscale’s GBTC, decided to join the fun and recorded some losses too. A real party, huh?
Now, as we speak, there’s a faint glimmer of hope-Spot Bitcoin ETFs have returned to positive territory, with a cumulative $56.12 billion in inflows. But let’s not get too excited. Even though Bitcoin saw over $187 million in inflows over the last two days, the price is still sinking. It’s down about 40% year-to-date and is now hovering just above $68,000. Not exactly moon-worthy, is it?
Other Reasons Bitcoin Might Be Crying Right Now
As if the ETF drama wasn’t enough, there’s also the small matter of geopolitical tensions. Bitcoin might be digital, but it’s still very much impacted by what happens in the real world. Like, have you heard about the ongoing US-Iran war? Yeah, it’s still happening, and no one’s bothered to make peace yet. With President Donald Trump’s April 6 deadline to resume strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure looming large, market watchers are biting their nails. What does this have to do with Bitcoin, you ask? Well, as oil prices and ETF inflows continue to dance a very ungraceful waltz, Bitcoin and its crypto cousins are feeling the pressure.
So, while we all sit here and refresh our screens hoping for some good news, one thing’s clear: Bitcoin’s price crash isn’t over, and the outlook isn’t exactly sparkling. Keep an eye on oil prices, ETF moves, and any diplomatic shifts, because they might just hold the key to whether Bitcoin’s going to bounce back-or keep spiraling down the drain.
