The recent release of the Terran Armada and Free Lanes DLC, along with the long-awaited PlayStation 5 version, is bringing players back to Starfield. While all the new content is exciting, many are particularly interested in the story expansion and what it adds to the game. This guide will explain how and when you can begin the Terran Armada DLC in Starfield.
How to Begin Starfield’s Terran Armada Expansion
Listen to SSNN Broadcasts:
After you buy and install the Terran Armada DLC for Starfield, there are a few easy steps to start the new questline. It won’t automatically begin when you start the game, even if you’ve already finished the main story.
You’ll have to find SSNN broadcast terminals to hear the announcement of the Terran Armada’s arrival in the system.
We found this message in Akila City, a key location you’ll explore during the main story. Though it might be possible to hear it from any SSNN broadcast terminal, we recommend going directly to Akila City on the planet Akila, located in the Cheyenne system, to be sure.
If you haven’t played Starfield in a while, remember that the Freestar Collective will scan your ship for illegal items when you enter their airspace around Akila. Be sure to use the game’s features to hide any contraband before you arrive.
Okay, so when I finally got to Akila City, I immediately looked for The Rock – you can’t miss it, it’s this huge tower right in the middle of everything. Just to the left of the entrance, there’s an SSNN terminal. As I walked up to it, a news report about the Terran Armada started playing, and it was actually a message from the Armada leaders themselves! That’s how the “Attack of the Terran Armada” quest kicked off automatically – pretty cool!
Once you begin, you’ll need to travel to Nirvana I in the Nirvana system. Nirvana is a system designed for players around level 40 and is located in the southern part of the star map.

What Level Should I Be to Start Terran Armada?
Although you can start the Terran Armada questline relatively soon in the game, it’s best to be at least level 50 before you begin, according to the game’s recommendations.
It’s recommended you finish the main story and the Shattered Space expansion before tackling the new challenge. While you can start the Terran Armada questline without finishing the main game, completing it first is the fastest way to boost your Starborn character’s level in Starfield.
Everything seems ready to start working on Terran Armada, now that the required resources are available.
