Perri has been producing elite content using an EEG device that converts her brain activity into game control inputs for some time now.
Over the past couple of months, I’ve managed to conquer Elden Ring’s toughest boss solely by harnessing my brainwaves. More recently, I’ve been attempting to excel in first-person shooter games using my EEG-enhanced skills. At DreamHack, I shared my thoughts on where this extraordinary journey takes me next.
‘More and More Complicated’
In an attempt to add even more intrigue to her ‘mind control’ gaming, Perri strives to make it more intricate. During a conversation with Jake Lucky at DreamHack Stockholm, she elaborated on this.
At present, I’m actively seeking ways to increase complexity in my tasks, such as multitasking in games like World of Warcraft by managing various inputs. I’m also experimenting with using multiple EEG devices simultaneously, aiming to expand the range of commands available to me.
As a gamer, I’m striving to navigate my virtual worlds exclusively through mind power. Right now, I’m employing mind control to manipulate buttons on a virtual Xbox controller, but then incorporating gyroscopic and eye-tracking tech for the joysticks. However, my ultimate goal is to eliminate those auxiliary tools and master gameplay solely with mental concentration.
Perri told Jake that her upcoming endeavor involves a Pokémon run solely relying on mind control, as it’s limited only to psychics.
Regarding the integration of tech into everyday life, Perri, with a background in Psychology, acknowledged that the current technology is somewhat outdated and not entirely precise. However, he suggested a potential advancement might involve embedded devices or implants. Similar to Elon Musk’s Neuralink concept, these implants could eliminate the need to wear various devices by allowing users to control games using their brainwaves directly.
In the near term, Perri anticipates a promising outlook for the advancement of this technology. Jake inquired about her long-term predictions, specifically for the next decade and beyond.
As an enthusiast, I’m all about crafting top-notch gaming setups, but the dream doesn’t stop there. Lately, I’ve been manipulating robot arms with mind control, which was quite thrilling! I can only imagine the day when this technology will assist those facing accessibility challenges. Unfortunately, at the moment, it’s still quite complex and not yet a practical solution for everyday use.
As a game enthusiast, if we could refine technology to the point where it’s not just useful, but truly immersive, the potential for crafting unparalleled gaming experiences becomes boundless. The horizon of what we can achieve seems almost limitless.
