The trailer for Sierra, a new damage-dealing hero in Overwatch, has been released. She’ll be available on April 14th as part of the Reign of Talon Season 2 update. Sierra is the sixth new hero added to the game this year, bringing the total number of playable heroes to 51.
With the big 2026 relaunch of Overwatch, the game surprised players by immediately adding five new heroes in the first season, ‘Reign of Talon.’ They also announced plans to introduce a new playable character with each following season. On March 31st, Overwatch teased the hero coming in Season 2 on April 14th, but didn’t reveal any information about her abilities or background – only her look.
Overwatch Reign of Talon Season 2 Hero Sierra Coming April 14
Fans have finally gotten their first look at the newest Overwatch character, Sierra. She’s a skilled captain who works for Helix Security, and in her introductory trailer, “Summit Break,” she joins forces with Overwatch to stop Talon from stealing something from Watchpoint: Grand Mesa. During the mission, she battles Emre, using both her drone and weapons to overcome him. However, Sierra’s abilities are temporarily disabled by Talon’s Override system, putting her at a disadvantage. Just then, Freja arrives and uses her Bola Shot to capture Sierra, allowing her and Emre to escape with the stolen item.
Sierra reported that the item Emre stole from Grand Mesa was discovered in the “Naughton Vault.” Victoria Naughton, the scientist who led the program that created Reaper and Soldier: 76 for Overwatch, suggests the stolen item might be connected to the development of super soldiers.
Okay, so I’ve been watching the trailer for this new hero, Sierra, and I’m getting a really good feel for how she’ll play! She’s a Damage hero, and her main weapon reminds me a lot of Sojourn’s rifle from Overwatch – it’s a repeating pulse weapon. But instead of a big charged shot, she throws this cool violet spike that attaches to enemies. It looks like that spike might even be her ultimate! What’s really neat is that when it’s attached, her other attacks seem to automatically target that enemy, and it looks like it either explodes after a while or when the enemy takes enough damage. Plus, she can use a grapple to swing to a flying drone, and she has some ability to reveal enemy positions, which makes me think she might fit into the Recon role – basically a scout!
Players will soon get a clear look at how Sierra plays in Overwatch. A gameplay trailer is coming out on April 9th, showcasing her in-game appearance and mechanics. The trailer will also include a complete explanation of her weapon, abilities, ultimate move, and other features.

On April 13th, just before Sierra appears in Overwatch with the start of Reign of Talon Season 2, a motion comic about her will be released. This comic, narrated by the voice actor who plays Sierra, will explore her past – including how she became involved with Helix Security and learned to use her recon drone. The trailer for Season 2 will also be shown that day, giving players a preview of the update’s content. Beyond Sierra, Reign of Talon Season 2 will feature an updated look for Anran, a revamped Antarctic Peninsula map, a version for the Switch 2, and potentially a larger story event connected to the Grand Mesa operation shown in the new hero’s trailer.
