As a seasoned adventurer who’s traversed the Mushroom Kingdom and beyond, I can confidently say that battling Glohm Gobblick is no walk in the park. This towering, candy-spitting plant is a formidable foe, but fear not! With the right strategy and a bit of luck, you’ll emerge victorious.
The wicked character, Zokket, is scattering the ominous substance known as Glohm across the islands of Concordia! This unpleasant, violet sludge not only chokes social links but also grants any foe it comes into contact with an unwelcome surge of power.
No Thanks, Keep Reading
You will encounter former foes that the Extension Corps positioned within each ocean’s Grand Lighthouse. Defeating these enhanced enemies powered by Glohm will reward you with valuable loot and experience, crucial steps toward permanently defeating Zokket.
Starting The Side Quest

To embark on this additional mission and confront Gobblick once more, seek out Dewey Fightem on Shipshape Island first. You’ll find him in the vicinity of the group of NPCs who assess your equipment, character level, and Battle Plugs before you proceed.
As a gamer, “After wrapping up the events of Chilliam and Burnadette’s wedding on Heatfreeze Island, you can approach Dewey about a new side quest anytime. To unlock this story event, you must have already solved the ice block puzzle on Slippenglide Island and stopped the lava floes on Skorcheen Island first.
As a gamer, I can tell you that there’s no rush to complete this side quest. Finishing the main storyline beyond the wedding won’t prevent me from engaging in a battle against Glohm Gobblick later on.
Overcome Glom Gobblegook, and Dewey treats you to some fresh footwear and an invaluable Battle Add-on. It seems like becoming a hero isn’t all the reward you get with Dewey!
Item | Description | Stats |

Reaching Glohm Gobblick

To confront Glohm Gobblick, set sail for Shipshape Island and navigate your way towards the Grand Lighthouse in the Emerald Ocean. When the Grand Lighthouse is within view, fire your cannon to propel yourself onto the shore.
Be sure to click X and accelerate Shipshape Island’s voyage through Concordia’s streams! This journey might also provide an opportunity to retrace steps and check if the Connectar Flowers have revealed new paths on earlier islands.
There’s no need for concern – simply head towards the Warp Pipe located in the northwest corner of the island, which is close to the roaming merchant. You can use this to skip the journey back through the basement and straight into Gobblick’s boss room.
If you failed to open the pipe prior to your initial encounter with Gobblick, then prepare yourself for a lengthy journey. However, since you won’t have to solve those puzzles again!
Preparing For The Fight
Head down to the cellar of the Grand Lighthouse, and don’t forget to employ the Save Point conveniently located near the boss chamber. As you step through the doorway, it will initiate an automatic rematch.
As the first Glohmed-up boss you’ll face, Glohm Gobblick presents a spike in difficulty if you battle him the moment he’s unlocked. Dewey Fightem recommends you’re at least level 35.
Since the primary plot isn’t set for you to attend the Heatfreeze Island wedding when you’re around level 25, don’t worry! You’ll do just fine as is. If the boss proves to be challenging at your current level, feel free to return later when you’ve leveled up a bit more.
Don’t forget to stock up on your Mushrooms, Syrups, and Nuts from this vendor or the one on Shipshape Island.
As a gamer, I always remember to gear up with the right gloves and accessories for an intense battle. It’s all too easy to dash about, relying on my Quick-Charge Brooch, only to realize I forgot to switch to a more defense-oriented item just before a boss fight.
Battle Plugs
Choosing suitable Battle Plugs before engaging in combat greatly enhances your chances of survival, particularly when facing a formidable Glohmed boss.
Being struck by any of Glohm Gobblick’s attacks may cause the “Glohm” status on you. When under this condition, Mario and Luigi are unable to cooperate for Bros. Attacks or Luigi Logic. A Fresh Herb has a 50% chance to cure the affliction, but an “Auto Herb adapter” enables you to use one instantly each turn.
Ampberries consistently heal the Glohm condition, but unfortunately, they are scarce at this stage of the game. If you defeat Glohm Gobblick after conquering Wayaway Island in the Gulchrock Sea, you’ll acquire the Auto Ampberry device, making the process easier.
Alongside getting ready for Glohm, start the battle with your preferred defensive items in place. Notably, the Surefooted Guard is excellent for preventing Dizzy effects, and tools like Auto 1-Up, Easy-Peasy Counters, and Damage Shield are particularly useful when dealing with the faster attack patterns of the Glohmed boss.
Battling Glohm Gobblick

Glohm Gobblick’s fighting style mirrors the original one, yet he packs a stronger punch and strikes faster.
Here, Easy-Peasy Counters truly stands out: either by levitating in mid-air or utilizing the larger strike zone of the hammer, you can dodge incoming damage and synchronize with the rhythm of the Glohmed boss. As in many Mario-inspired RPGs, dodging is crucial!
The advantageous aspect here is that, similar to their initial encounter, Glohm Gobblick seems to lack specific defensive measures against assaults. So, feel free to pummel the colossal menacing plant with your preferred Battle Plugs and most relentless allies. Attacks.
Specifically, Luigi’s Jump Helmet is particularly effective against single targets during the initial encounter with Glohm Gobblick.
During the course of Gulchrock Sea, you’ll acquire Mario’s powerful move called “Clockout Blow”. This special attack delivers immense damage when aimed at a single opponent.
Among my favorite moves is the Clockout Blow from the Bros. Attack, especially when paired with a Bros. Boost plug or a Luigi Logic stun. With this combo, Mario can inflict some severe damage on Brothership’s bosses. This move was crucial in helping me complete all three “Painful Blow” challenges.
In contrast to most of Glohm Gobblick’s assaults, during his “Junk Barrage” attack, instead of spitting coins, he releases healing candies. Grabbing one of these sweets can significantly alter the course of this battle as it restores both HP and BP.
Luigi Logic
Continue persistently attacking Glohm Gobblick, and eventually a tornado will form close by, setting off Luigi Logic. Using the Auto 1-Up and Auto Herb items when this becomes possible ensures that both brothers remain in good health, enabling them to use Luigi Logic effectively.
Turn your supervisor around and hurl him into the vortex by hitting the B button. As always, this action will create a stun period where all attacks inflict critical damage on Glohm Gobblick.
If you find yourself at a disadvantage due to being underpowered, don’t hesitate to utilize this opportunity for healing. Simply switch between your attacks, trigger Luigi Logic stuns when possible, and eventually, this pesky plant will be uprooted, rewarding you with a Gold Medallion (valued at 1,000 Coins).
Since you can’t employ the Teleportation Pipe on a Lighthouse Island in the Great Lakes, make your way back using the Warp Tunnel and fire yourself from the cannon towards Shaped-Like-a-Ship Island instead. Upon arrival, find Dewey Fightem to collect your prize.
He may even already have a second Glohmed boss for you to fight…
