Silk Road’s Ross Ulbricht Issues Thanksgiving Post After Teasing His Possible Coming Release

As a long-time crypto investor and follower of Ross Ulbricht’s case, I must admit that this latest development has brought a glimmer of hope to the otherwise gloomy landscape of his prolonged incarceration. It’s been an arduous journey for Ulbricht, who dared to challenge the status quo and pioneer a decentralized marketplace before Bitcoin was even mainstream.

Ross Ulbricht, creator of the controversial Silk Road darknet marketplace, currently serving over 11 years in prison, extended holiday greetings via a post to his extensive following on the X platform (previously known as Twitter), wishing them all a Happy Thanksgiving.

In the recent article, he subtly suggested his potential early release from prison, expressing gratitude for the blessings of the current year by stating “I have a great deal to be thankful for this year.

We have a lot to be thankful for this year.

Happy Thanksgiving!

In the recent past, on November 26th, Ulbricht expressed on Twitter that he’s gradually adjusting to the possibility of being released from prison permanently in the near future, a prospect suggested by the pledge made by the newly elected U.S. leader during their campaign to terminate Ross Ulbricht’s imprisonment for the Silk Road case. He asserted that 11 years is an adequate punishment for the offense he was found guilty of committing.

I’m starting to get used to the reality that I could be home in a couple of months!

The Silk Road, established in 2011, functioned as an unregulated online marketplace where Bitcoin was used for transactions. It was initially intended for general trading but it was mainly drug dealers and arms merchants who were actively selling goods on this platform. In 2012, the FBI took down Silk Road, leading to Ross Ulbricht’s imprisonment on two life sentences. As of mid-September, he has already served over 4,000 days in prison, as stated in a tweet he posted then.

Currently, he holds faith that due to the shift in U.S. political power after 11 years of imprisonment, his sentence could potentially be overturned. For years, the cryptocurrency community has been advocating for Ulbricht’s release, circulating a petition and organizing public initiatives to bring attention to his case.
