Now that April’s events are wrapping up, Niantic has announced details for the May Community Day in Pokémon GO. With May just around the corner, Niantic is sharing information about the limited-time events coming next month. Community Day is a popular monthly event for many Pokémon GO players, focusing on a specific Pokémon with increased chances of finding its rare, shiny version.
Players recently enjoyed a Community Day event in Pokémon GO spotlighting the Steel and Fairy-type Pokémon, Tinkatink. This Pokémon, first appearing in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, could be evolved into Tinkatuff and then Tinkaton during the event, unlocking a special charge attack called Gigaton Hammer. Community Days always include extra perks like double Candy and triple Stardust from catching Pokémon. The next Community Day seems to be continuing the trend of featuring Pokémon from the Paldea region (from Scarlet and Violet).
Pokemon GO May 2026 Community Day Start Time
- Saturday, May 9 from 2-5pm local time.
The latest Pokémon GO blog post announced that Lechonk will be the star of May’s Community Day! This adorable Pokémon, nicknamed the Hog Pokémon, first appeared in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, set in the Paldea region. You can find Lechonk relatively early in the game on Poco Path, and it evolves into Oinkologne at level 18. As a Normal-type Pokémon, Lechonk is well-rounded but doesn’t excel in any particular area, being weak to Fighting-type moves but resistant to Ghost moves. Interestingly, male and female Oinkologne have distinct appearances – males are darker in color with ears that cover their eyes, while females are browner with shorter ears and a different tail.
For Pokemon GO players, Lechonk’s Community Day offers a special bonus: evolve Lechonk into Oinkologne during the event (or within 4 hours after it ends), and Oinkologne will learn the fast attack Mud Slap. This attack is powerful, dealing 11 damage in trainer battles and 19 damage in raids and gym battles.
May’s Community Day will feature several helpful bonuses! Using a regular Lure Module at any PokéStop will attract more Lechonk and increase your chances of finding a shiny one. Throughout the event, you’ll also benefit from faster egg hatching (eggs will hatch with only 1/4 of the usual distance walked), double the amount of candy when catching Pokémon, incense lasting for 3 hours, and a doubled chance of finding XL Candy if you’re level 31 or higher. Plus, special research tasks will be available in the Pokémon GO in-game shop for those who want even more to do.

Even though the event is still a few weeks off, there’s a lot happening in Pokémon GO throughout April. On April 28th, the Steeled Resolve event brings back Meltan and introduces the new Pokémon, Orthworm. Before that, the Replay: GO Bigger event lets players battle and catch Gigantamax Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Gengar at special Max Battle locations.
